THIRD ROW: J. Morgan, R. Keith, J. Dickey, P. Durm, R. Warner, R. McKay, D. Harbaugh, J. Hrinda, G. Gido, R. Murray, B. Holliday, D. Sisson. FOURTH ROW: R. Godfrey, D. Flowers, A. McCall, D. Kibler, T. Morton, A. Waller, P. Chvany, D. Meeker, B. Harbaugh, L. Ritchie, B. Kibler, J. Cornell. The first day of practice was a tough day for our boys, but the fellows were ready to go in time for the first game with Lawrence Park which they won 7-0. Then their next string of five games were total heartbreaks of sorrowing upsets. After these five rugged games, the fellows thought they ought to win their last two games. So they poured on the steam and under the great advice of Coach Murray and Coach Morris, with Captain Carl Meeder assisting, they rolled over Albion by the score of 27 to 14, also Mercer by the score of 32 to 0. Football at Union has been a great tradition. Union has had many fine teams of the gridiron but greater is the fighting spirit which has been handed down through the years of Union's existence. It seems as though whether Union High has a winning record or not, the boys still put up the good old high school try. We believe that this year's team has done just that. JUNl0R VARSITY FIRST ROW: J. Carlson, J. Morgan, T.Morton, R. Godfrey, P. Chva.ny, J. Cornell, L. Ritchie, B. Martin. SECOND ROW: Mr. Morris, G. Gilbert, D. Kibler, D. Steadman, B. Angerer, D. Flowers, D. Sisson, Mr. Murray. THIRD ROW: A. McCall, B. Holliday, D. Hammond, D. Meeker, A. Waller, R. Stevens, J. Holliday. FOURTH ROW: R. Keith, B. Harbaugh, B. Kibler, B. Powell, P. McDonald. This year our Junior Varsity team, under the direction of Coach Morris, had a mild season. The fellows fought hard and tried to do their best, but two ga.mes were lost, one game won, and one game tied. The Junior Varsity is the main backbone under the va.rsity team. Here is where they are taught the rules of fair play and good sportsmanship. It is when the varsity fellows graduate from Union that they really depend on the Junior Varsity to fill all the varsity positions.
