Before Hen rick had to leave for Denmark to continue his education he presented to Rhodes a flag from Denmark to be kept a memory of his visit and in turn Mr. Scl-don presented Henrick with an American flag. y 1 e c t) d ACADEMIC CHALLENGE Rhodes’ team competed against Manchester H.S. of Akron and LaBrac H.S. of l.cavitisburg. Graduating from high school is the beginning of the future. A future is shaped by an individual according to his or her aspirations. The opportunities that exist arc limitless. Based on the goals that arc set and the effort that is made, the foundation of the future will be determined. A firm foundation is crucial for success in life. It is the first stepping stone upon which all goals will eventually be achieved. Equally important as setting goals and laying a good foundation is resiliency, that is, the ability to recover from any setbacks that may be encountered. The only way to deal with life is by looking ahead and not repeating the mistakes of the past. The only way to attain the treasures that arc in store for us is to maintain our future aspirations. ___________Yearbook Staff 1 MOST POPULAR CELESTE HAGGINS CEDRIC HAGGINS MOST SCHOOL SPIRIT ALICE R UFFIN DARYL BROWN umi BEST LOOKING ALESIA MARTIN DAN MCNEILY MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED ALICIA YOUNG A NTHON Y BO YSA W BEST BUILD Rcbccca Duffy Dun McNcily BEST LEGS Rebecca Duffy Mark Starling TALLEST Celeste Haggins Cedric Haggins SHOR TEST Quinette Foster John Jordan SHYEST Stacey Thorton Lisa Jones Dan McNcily MOST ATHLETIC Celeste Haggins George Moore MOST STUDIOUS Kim Vaughn Sha mar Young MOST TALKATIVE Tiffany Willis Tracy Smith Ron Smith CLASS CLOWN Balinda Knox Arlic Cooper BIGGEST FLIR T Kelly Cook Murk Starling MOST ARTISTIC Pamela Nichols Kenny Nix BEST DRESSED TIGHTEST JEANS V Carolyn Watson Terry Chapman NICEST “4” EYES Theresa Bullard Anthony Boysaw NICEST EYES Aida Green Rayfcacl Gullatt NICEST SMILE Stacey Thorton Ronald Parks 1 CUTEST DIMPLE BEST INSTR UMENTA UST ODD AND CUTE I SENIOR Deninne Ballash: Full-Time Minister Part-Time Secretary; married with no kids. One big happy family. CANDID James Ford Rhodes was a famous historian. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1848 to Pomeroy Rhodes and Sophia Lord Rhodes. Rhodes had a fascination for politics as a child which later grew into a fascination for history and literature. After several career changes, in 1872 he married Ann Card. A year later, while reading Hildreth's History of the United States, his fascination for history was rejuvenated. On April I, 1885, he retired from his business in order to compile material for his book, which was to be a history of the Unites States. His book. History of the Unites States, was published in a total of seven volumes, the last being in 1906. He later visited Europe to study European histroy. He spent the remaining years of his life traveling. Upon his return to Brookline, Massachusetts in 1927, he died. Though his ashes are buried in Cleveland, the school that bears his name still lives on. Farley J.
