MATHEWS FOUNDATION HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ARE 353 RONALD HCRT2INC We at Rhodes are part of a long tradition of excellence in education which began forty-nine years ago under the leadership of Neil D. Matthews. As our first principal. Mr. Matthews served as a model for all Rhodes students with his enduring loyalty, dedication and concern for scholastic excellence. His tradition is carried on to this day in the award which bears his name. The Neil D. Matthews scholarship is awarded each year to a deserving student in the senior class. James Ford Rhodes is considered to be the first American political historian. Our school, which opened in 1932, commemorates his contributions to present historical views. His ideals have served as an ongoing inspiration to each graduating class. 6

New Friers Each school year is a new beginning. This year is our new beginning. For the seniors it is the start of a new era. We will graduate this year and we will enter the real world.” Although it seems like an ending, graduation is really a Genesis, a fresh start.
