FRIENDSHIP HAPPINESS CONCERN EFFORT DISAPPOINTMENT EXPERIENCE MEMORIES REFLECTIONS FACULTY Gail Zombor SENIORS Gertrude Under Laura ttolph Uc d St Ck5 You helped with sales-both paper and bake, But credit you refused to take. Through the halls you hurriedly walked, Still you always had a minute to talk. Many Rhodes games you did attend, Rooting for our Rams right up to the end. Looking to help us whenever you could, Intelligently advising us as you felt you should. Nasty to us you never have been, Kindness you showed through thick and through thin. You've meant much to us during our high school years, Now we want to make it known, so that all the world hears: The graduating seniors of nineteen seventy-three think, That our yearbook should be dedicated to you, MR. LINK! 4 5 June 1973 Congratulations to each and every one of you. If your future is to remain as bright and as hopeful as it is today each of you must have a reasonable amount of self-reliance and be willing to accept your fair share of responsibility- and that responsibility should be to direct whatever talents and skills you possess to helping serve your fellow man. We hope that your experience at Rhodes High School has been such that you will be encouraged to dedicate yourselves to that goal. It is our hope that your three years at James Ford Rhodes have been such that you will look back through this yearbook and withdraw fond memories. Good luck and best wishes to each of you. Ill It’s Academic The 72-73 Academic Challenge team, led by Captain Jim Rokakis and senior teammate John Katona and junior Matt Sutko, (senior alternate John Schrcckengost), took runner-up honors to Walsh Jesuit High School in an exciting match on WEWS, Channel 5 television in November. Madison High School took third place with a score of 255, while the varsity scholars from Rhodes chalked up 365 points to Walsh's 430. The match, which was nip-and-tuck affair between Rhodes and Walsh Jesuit, was in doubt until midway through the final buzzer on three straight questions and outdistanced the Rhodes scholars to post a hard-earned, close victory. Walsh subsequently won quarter final and semi-final rounds against other previous winning schools and at press time had qualified for die final playoff in July. For their second place finish, the Rhodes team earned a four volume set of CLASSICS OF THE WESTERN WORLD which was placed in the media center.
