FOREWORD In this thirty-sixth edition of the Rhodes Yearbook, our aim has been to depict every phase of our high school life. Within are pictures, grave and gay, pictures that will remind us of the friends we have had, the good times we have known, the rooms and halls through which we have passed, through the years to come. The purpose in compiling this yearbook is to create something which will be a living memory of your high school days, and will grow more interesting through the passing years, and not live for today but also for tomorrow. When various members of this class have reached the top of the ladder as past records of their achievements indicate they will obtain, we shall want to look again at the jovial, informal shots that reflect these happy days of comradeship at Rhodes. Deepest expressions of gratitude are due to the school administration and our class adviser, Mr. Tcmplin, for their unfailing assistance and wise counsel. Thanks also are due to the teaching staff, whose members have been helpful, patient, and tolerant of the Yearbook Committee’s struggles to compile the material that has gone into this yearboook. The entire class should appreciate the co-operation of the staff members who appear in the faculty picture. No school record could be complete without that most important of all factors—the teaching staff! Students will remember these men and women with deep gratitude. Members of the senior class and many under-class members have cooperated in supplying the hundreds of snapshots that appear on these memory-filled pages. No words can express the loyalty, hard work, and co-operation of the members of the Yearbook Committee. In addition to willingly assuming their share of grueling routine work, members of this committee have made special contributions. Irene Sidor drew the inside covers. With Joyce Luther and Judy Schill she also wrote the Class History. Gretchen Lingg, Joe McCreary, Barb Smith, and Virginia Valchar composed the Class Prophecy. The Class Will is the work of Nick Emigholz, Carl Kubala, and Bob Melcher. Jay Hetherington and Otto Reidl wrote the Dedication and Farewell to the counsellors. Ed Lock, along with Jay and Joe, is due a vote of thanks for putting the montage pages together. And now, Classmates, this Yearbook is yours. We leave it to your mercies, and we hope, to your enjoyment. If you feel it is YOUR Yearbook, we have succeeded in our endeavors. It is for you to determine whether or not we have accomplished our purpose. The Editor
