MATHEWS To Members of the Class of January, 1956: We hope that these past few years at Rhodes High School have helped in some degree to prepare each of you to take your place as an effective citizen of this great nation of ours. We hope that your work here has improved your capacity to do your own thinking and that, as a result of your thinking, you constantly will be alert to the responsibilities and duties of citizenship.  From the very beginning when you welcomed us as confused freshmen until the last few inspiring moments, we will always remember you. Miss Millard and Mr. Jacob, as a real part of our class. Instead of supervising our activities you have joined in them, proving that you are sincerely one of us. Because you were always so willing to help solve our problems, both in and out of school, we thank you. Miss Millard. We thank you, Mr. Jacob, for doing many gratefully appreciated things for us, such as not giving us homework on the nights of special class activities. To you both we dedicate our yearbook. 3
