MATHEWS To Members of the Class of January, 1955: John Stuart Mill, famous nineteenth century English philosopher, wrote: One man with a belief is a social force superior to ninety-nine men who have only an interest. We hope that your four years at Rhodes High School have helped you to develop a belief in our educational institutions, a belief in the Republic of which you are a part and a belief in your fellow human beings, as well as belief in yourselves. Your worth as citizens will depend largely upon your beliefs, especially those which impel you to the right kind of action.
