For cheerfully giving of your time to chaperon our class social events. For an understanding ear lent to our various problems. For advice to our class organization, For willingly giving advice to all who sought it, For these services “above and beyond” the ordinary expected duties of a teacher; We, the “Class of ’46, respectfully dedicate our yearbook to you. Members of the Class of January, 1946: You are leaving high school in an age the symbol of which is the atomic bomb. At no other time in the history of the world has straight thinking been so important. The future of this atomic age is of course unknown. You will have a share of the responsibility in determining whether that future will be one of the progress of civilization or of its destruction. Only as you think in terms of one world and the rights and privileges of all mankind. will your life-contribution help to prevent disaster. It is our hope that your four years at Rhodes High School have helped you to acquire some worthwhile information upon which to base your thinking, and that you have been encouraged in the critical use of that information.
