TA ESS.O 2 20 MORES Gases EGISTRATION DAY on the 18th of October, 1943, found a very large number of assorted Freshman students excitedly filling in program cards. The very same number emerged quite alive, and even unscathed from a rip-roaring initiation week. A more dignified event, also traditional, was a Freshman tea given in the school Library in our honor. We all had a delightful time, and met upper classmen and faculty members, whom we tried to impress, needless to say. We held our first class meeting, and elected the following officers: President, Emma Thurber; Vice-President, Barbara. Barry; Secretary, Mary Fletcher; Treasurer, Barbara Goulding. Because of war time restrictions, and the departure of many of our friends and brothers to the armed forces, our social activities were some- what limited. Therefore, after a Scavenger Hunt party, we settled soberly down to an interesting and profitable year in the Freshman Foundation and Freshman work in the Textile and Engineering Departments. All of us—almost all of us—treturned eagerly on October 21, 1944 to begin our Sophomore year. These officers took ove r: President, Cynthia Norton; Vice-President, Allen Johnson; Secretary-Treasurer, Raymond Simoneau. No social activities wholly our own have been held, but we rallied enthusiastically round at the two School Dances this winter. We covered ourselves with glory at the Student Talent Program, having the majority of performers taken from our midst, and also the chairman and Master of Ceremonies. The last and most pleasant occasion of all was the Coffee Hour in our honor given by Dr. and Mrs. Farnum. P.S. We hear there is another dance in the offing.
