In days of youthful seeking, Our guardian faithful be, And then, O Alma Mater, We'11 lift our hearts to thee. Zfreward With the completion of our senior year, we, the members of this class pass the first great milestone in our existence. We graduate, not out of high school, but into the outside world. The primary purpose of these years in school is to prepare us for the years to follow. At this point, our only wealth is the knowledge instilled in us thus far, and the course our life takes in the future depends upon how well we invest this capita l. Guided by thoughts such as these. we have attempted to preserve some of the more memorable as- pects of our school life in this, the 1959 PATROON. Schval Sang Alma Mater, we will sing, Our praises just for thee. Long as the mighty Hudson rolls, Our love will last for thee. Chorus: Purple and Gold. Purple and Gold, Our hearts beat high for thee. You will always linger in Our fondest memory. Dcdicafivu HOWARD D. KELLY The members of the class of 1959 are happy to dedicate the current issue of the PATROON to Mr. Howard Kelly in recognition and appreciation of his service to them as a teacher, a friend, and an advisor. ,714 Jlflemariam Silfyl ,firm 6016 PATRONS MR. A further indication of Rhinebeck's superiority on the playing field is shown by the fact that the local eleven amassed a season's total of 64 points to the opposition's 12. The girls of Rhinebeck Central School participate in an extensive sports program. Of our many sports, however, the ones most enjoyed are field hockey and basketball. Both the teams, under the excellent coaching of Miss Dorothy Allen, have compiled a rather astounding record in their contests with the players from other schools. In four years, the girls' varsity basketball team has been defeated only twiceg in the last seven years, the hockey team has had only one loss. Activity in sports is acknowledged by a letter received in the Senior year. On this letter are symbols designating and showing the number of years of ac- tive participation. 1 Q - , ...., . mm, 1' 'V My Q2 25 fmmib, N-ff, :WW-ff xiii? I 'S-pd Ciara' off? Who? At the same time, he has often been accused of faltering badly in his own self-development. Education today, more than ever before, holds the solution to this dilemma. For it is here, in our grade schools, high schools, colleges and uni- versities, that science and the humanities share their most im- portant meeting ground. And it comes ata time in man's life when his mind is in its most formative stagesg when he displays a sin- cere and intense desire to seek out the truth and incorporate his findings in the goals of years to come. The destiny of our civil- ization will be decidedby how successfully man can meet the chal- lenge of our timesg whether he c:an develop the tolerance and under- standing necessary to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
