Senin ffisfary Less than thirty minutes after Jerry D. shredded three programs into doilies and Alyne D. re- fused to go on stage without her jacket we became Freshmen. lt wasn't long before we got in the swim with our first dance, The Irish Fling, which featured the only Blarney Stone found in Buddy Roger's back yard. In the spring of that year, New York got its first glimpse of our honorable but still unrecog- nized class when we visited the Haydn Planetarium. By our Sophomore year we had set the pace we were to follow throughout our high school career. Academically we were leaders, financially we were still at the starting gate, and attendance-wise, very slow. As Juniors we made quite a name for ourselves. With three dances under our belt we boosted our financial mattress with the Harvest Hop and numerous dubiously successful food sales. Who will ever forget Leroy R. carting the cornstalks away after the Harvest Hop or the expression on Miss Caughran's face when she discovered her absent students locked on the school roof ! Then, in January we became bona fide upperclassmen and conspicuously displayed our fourth fingers as evidence, so beautiful were our class rings. Still feeling more like green Frosh than big deal Seniors we entered our last year at R.C. S. And such a year there never was before., The hottest campaign ever held for G.O. president went into effect. Each candidate'ssup- porters spent an exhausting week convincing voters. Pat W., Sally V., Buddy R., Pete E. , Jerry D., Bruce K., and Jim S. gave Art B. quite a fight for the office but Art became our chief Executive in a revote with Jimmy. In October we held the Series Swing and treated Rhineback to the best Smorgasbord in years. Despite a flood in the Town Hall Kitchen that night no one's spirits were dampened. And will we ever forget our Senior play? We doubt if such dramatic ability could be found even in Hollywood. In April our four years of dances, food and stocking sales were climaxed. For a glorious week Washington played our host, and such a week. Sleep became and unknown word. Our history in R,C,S, has been written and now it is time for the class of '54 to take their place in Room 208. With the acceptance of our diplomas we take places in the world outside of school. 611155 Pr plzevy Our insurance broker Evie Bly, Will sell insurance or tell us why, Ray DeMolin will own a hot-rod shop, To him all signs say Go--not Stopg A girdle model is Palma Esteves, Don't touch the merchandise ---- pleaseg Pete Edelmann's life will be a joke, A clown peddling peanuts and selling coke, Buddy Rogers will be a C,P.A. Here we are in our third year of training. Next year we'll be first class sailors. Why first class? Because just look at the path our recruits have made. The first big splash of the year was the Juniors' Tootsie Toss. Maybe the water was frozen at Christmas time but that didn't stop us from putting on a wonderful Christmas dance. All the other dances we launched throughout the year were good ones too! Our boys and girls certainly made a good show in all the sports and activities, not to mention all the musical talents we have too. Has any other class purchased their rings so early in the year? Besides praising ourselves we would like to praise Miss Caughran, our commanding Admiral in class and various other activities. Snplzzwzo cs First row, left to right: M, Briggs, E. Wager, C. Read our log book, and you will strive To be like the class of '55. In September the gay young sophomores dashed down the hall to their new room boasting high grades and traditional sophomoritis. Sure we think We're great. From what class come most of the Varsity and I.V. players? And if you'll notice, many of those cute cheerleaders are Sophomores. The soccer team, band and chorus all boast many members from our class. Those food sales of ours netted us many needed pennies but most fun of all was our carnival dance. With the help of our advisor, Mr. Bainbridge, it proved a great success. Our class wouldn't be the same without the sudden romances of Connie Poppo or the faithfulness of our steady couple Eileen Clarke and Jimmy Asher. And what would happen if Mrs. Ficke stopped issuing homework, Tommy Schaad flunked geometry or Ruth Nilsen and Carol Conklin stopped pester- ing the teachers? And now we will become Juniors, let's hope that next year's sophomores will follow our footsteps. he hm 14 sa . First row, left to right: H. Fitzpatrick, R. Becker, K. Simmons, C. Jones, L. Bly, A.
