R.W.H.S. COACHING STAFF The rising interest that the students and townspeople have shown toward sports can be attributed to the champion- ship teams that have been produced by our football coaching staff. Mr. Clarke and his assistants, Mr. Malacarne, Mr. Bracken, and Mr. Ward, have a record of three championship teams in the past four years. Mr. Clake has done an excellent job in promoting good clean football. Mr. Malacarne can be iustly proud of his work in building a strong forward wall. Mr. Bracken and Mr. Ward deserve much credit for their work with iunior high team. Teaching fundamentals to the beginners requires a great deal of patience and stamina. In addition to his duties as football assistant, Mr. Ward is head basketball coach. The success of the football season did not extend to basketball this year, but the prospects for next year are very bright. 54 .z.-.-..-... -5-5-z-rr:-.-. --.g.g- 1-3-1 3- Wa-L-.1 -..'.-.-.g-3.3-1 -I6 if -S- ' ra-L-r 2:::-:-:-:-:-:-:-: ' .,-:-:-:-:-:-:-:' ' :1:-,-.5:5?.-:F-45222:-:-:-:-353:-:-:-:-.2:3.-.2.-5:21-.-.2.-:-:-.g:1:2?2.:.g.g.: Z'.'I-I'2'C'2g' ' -.-Z'2'Z'f'Z'I'C ' ':I'Z'I'I ' Z'I'I'2'C'Z'C-I'I'Z'2'2g212:Ig11:1Z :Z'1'2'f'f'I'2'1'1'Z' ,:,:,:,:,:.-, .,...':,,:,:,:, . . . .M-. . . :,:,:,:,',..- . . . . . . . . . . . . . ,f 63 '.'.'-':'.'.'-'-'-'-'-I-1-'-I-Z-1-1'I'I'.'.'.'.'.'.'.'.'.'.'.'.'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-1-T-I-f'f'.'.'.'.'.'.'-' CRGANIZATICN 2E2i2f3E2:2:2: 244-I'C'I' :azz-,-:':-Q :-: :-:-:-:2:-:-:2:2:E:2:2:2:2:::5:E252?2 :-:2:-:-:-:-: ' ':2:2:2:2:2:2:2: 2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2: :-1-:-:-:R-:-:-:-: .g.g.3.g.:.g.g.g.g.g.g I-I-I-Z-Z-Z-Z-2+ 3512733555 .g.g.g 2222252525 5222225252 525222225152 252222252225 -:-:-: .2.2:-:-:':- :-:-:-:-:-:- . .-.,2EZfZg.g. -.'.'.-4.5.1 ' ':2:2:2:25 -:-:-:-:S .g.g.g.g.g.g.g. 2:2:2:2:2:2'3:2:Q: ':2:2:2:1E7:-:-: ,, 'Z-132:12 . .2 3.3.34 4 .....,...,. -I-232513222 :-:-:-:-: 'i'2:!:2: -ug: .:.5:5:i: .g.g.g.g.g4 ' ':3:2:2:2: 1-1-1-aes :2:2 2'2:2:2:2:2 :1:2:2:2 ...,.g.g.g9 ,.,.g...,.g.g.g.g.v.g :asiziisisisisizgs :2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:-: .+I . :,.,.,.,,,a .g.'.:I:. The dance band has made possible many more dances than was possible before because the clubs coulcln't afford a union band. The Downbeats consist of Mary Lou Douthit, on trum- pet, Sylvia Horm on clarinet, Richard Swartz on tenor saxophone, Paul Miller on trombone, Catherine Scheetz on piano, and Addie Wells on the drums. The dance band has been very well received by all the students attending the dances. The dance band has an array of old and new songs, pollcas and iitterbugs.
