DEL ROSARIO, ROMANO BARNEY, M.D. M.D. WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF T HE PA TRONS FOR SUPPORTING US SO GENEROUSLY AND BOOK POSSIBLE HELPING TO MAKE, THIS x' YOUR HELP THANK YOU FOR THE SAGA OF RALPH, THE RAIDER ROCK Mark Adkins, Ken Burke, Dave Lenert, Brian Teeters, Matt Lukens, Fred Fraley. Once upon a time, winter of the year 10,000 B.C., to be exact-john and Mary Slate gave birth to their fourth little piece of the rock, a boy they named Ralph. Good job, Mary the proud father chuckled, He's a chip off the old boulder. Have a cigar! As young Ralph grew . . . and grew, and grew, his mother realized that he wouldn't be the family rock she had dreamed of .... he seemed to be destined for something greater. Even in school, the difference was noted. A teacher recalls, He wasn't content with learning to be a cornerstone. No, Ralph was always a bit off center, a little unpredictable. Ralph's friends knew he was kind of wierd, but they thought it was very cool to be wierd, so they just let it pass. During his junior year at Graveclod High, Ralph discovered the world of sports. Yes, you name it, Ralph played them all, sootball, slushball, faceball, he even rolled track! Ralph was selected all county rock. After high school, Ralph just gave up on life. His friends were tired of his strange behavior. His par- ents had told him to leave and never return. So Ralph, having no other choice, rolled sadly away from the only home he had evern known. Ralph tried really hard to adjust to living alone, scorned by every rock he met, but he just couldn't make it. So, Ralph Slate, rejected by rockkind, his family and friends, found himself a place where no one would bother him, so that he could rest in peace. All the while this was happening, the world was doing all sorts of strange things. For instance, these crazy animals seemed to be popping up every- where. Six of these uh people stumbled upon a forlorn-looking rock on a moonlit Saturday night. Their names were Mark, Ken, Dave, Brian, Matt, and Fred, and they just happened to be from a school that desperately needed a mascot. The boys put two and two and two together and decided to take this obviously lonely rock to a place where it would have constant companionship for the rest of its days. So, with much thought and effort, Ralph has been given a new coat of royal purple, and has led a rela- tively happy life. Naturally, not everything is per- fect, and Ralph has had his share of ups and downs. For instance, the time when Ralph was siezed and painted with a traitorous P . ln spite of these traumatic experiences, Ralph seems to be adjusting very well to his new home, and the Reynolian staff would like to wish The Rock a long and prosperous life.
