Z ' 4 Glee Club 1,2.4 Annual Staff 4 1 1 s , , ,4 , ' .4 10 Klan .Hzalorg On September 1945 s1xteen Freshxes were enrolled 1n the Reynolds H1gh School I.n our class were Corlyn DeFra1n Bertha Cerveny Delores Garber Frances Gmbson Bonnre Nutz Geraldxne Schwrsow Romona Krause Duane Beachler Roscoe Beachler Donald Fels Dwame Sexmsen Paul C Krause Jr Duane Safar Norbert Heller Vernon M1l1us and Harold O Neal Seven of the s1xteen Freshman took part 1n dramatxcs The class offxcers were Donald Fexs Preszdent Duane Beachler V1ce Pres1dent, and Paul Krause Jr Secretary and Treasurer Mrs Ben Prxefert was chosen class sponsor In September 1946 srxteen Sophomores started back to school but Geraldme Schw1sow went to Faxrbury and Jams Junker came from Famrbury Durxng the year Romona Krause moved to Washmgton leavmg f1fteen Sophomores Four of the class took part rn dramatxcs Romona Krause was chosen to carry a part 1n the J'un1or Class play Three Moss Roses The class off1cers for the year were Bertha Cerveny Presrdent Duane Beachler Vxce Presmdent and Frances G1bson Secretary and Treasurer Our class sponsor was Mrs Ray Hoyt Bertha Cerveny and Roscoe Beachler were elected Queen and Kmg of the all school Carmval Paul Krause Jr and Duane Beachler were regulars n the fxrst team basketball squad In September 1947 fzfteen Iuxnors clxmbed the steps to Reynolds Hlgh once agam The f011OW1l1g were elected as class off1cers Donald Fems Presxdent Mrs Ray Hoyt was chosen our class sponsor aga1n Delores Garber and Duane Safar were elected Queen and Kmg of the all school Carmval Onlv two took part 1n dramatxcs th1s year they were Delores Garber and Corlyn DeFram We presented our J'un1or class play Everybody s Gettxng Marned by Wxlham Moore November 7 The play was dlrected by M1ss Daxsy Chamberlam On February ll 1948 we Iunxors rece1ved our rxngs The rmgs were made of Rose gold and Green cut gold wlth black nurnerals and emblems Bertha Cerveny sang a solo at Commencement and she and Duane Beachler sang a duet at the Iumor Sen1or Banquet Four Sophomores Nyla Cerveny Darlxne Steffens Dayrel Warren and Dudley served as our waxters at the banquet After the banquet we took the Semors to a show m Faxrbury In September 1948 fxfteen xntelhgent Semors were back m Reynolds Hxgh Our class offxcers were as follows Delores Garber Presxdent Roscoe Beachler V1ce Presxdent Frances Gxbson Secretary and Bertha Cerveny Treasurer Mr W1l11am L Cramer IS our class sponsor Corlyn Del-'ram and Duane Satar took part mn dramatzcs thxs year The Semor class play Faxth Hope and Flarny by Jay Tobxas was presented on Aprxl Z9 1949 The Sneak Day was enjoyld by all the Semors The JUHIOI' Semor Banquet was on May 11 1949 ll I ' . . . , . V, . , I . 1, vim wfophefy Mr Cramer s vo1ce fades mto the d1stance as I lay my head on my desk for a httle nap wh1le he so busmly trys to teach me the Constxtutxon My mxnd wonders off mto dream land My what a change m the world smce I last saw It m 1949 The txme now 15 l969 The place 15 my rocket sh1p on the way to the earth from the moon where I and my better half have started a Co op gas stat1on As l come swmftly to earth 1n my rocket sh1p I notxce a sh1p buzzlng wxth actxvmty and smce I am very anx1ous to get m on all the fun and fmd out what the world 1S hke I land my rocket sh1p nearby and go aboard shlp to fmd out what all the excxtment was about I boarded the shxp and there to my amazement was Harold O Neal completely outfztted 1n a d1v1ng su1t He seemed very happy so I asked hmm why he was so happy and he told me that Bertha was now a mermaxd and that he enjoys v1s1t1ng her although It 15 a httle damp down there After a short v1s1t wxth h1m I contmued on my way to Reynolds wxth the contlnual worry of where to land 1n those Rose Creek h1lls but when I arrlved over the place where I thought the wee town of Reynolds should be but mstead there was now a town that completely covered the Rose Creek wxth a large landxng str1pwh1ch was bu1lt for the many flymg farmers of thxs r1ch and prosperous terr1tory I landed my plane and took a tax1 to the busxness d1str1ct of thls large town when I arnved down town the drnver turned to tell me the amount of my tax1 fare he was drmvmg a tax1 and he explaxned that now that Marcella was a novehst he dec1ded to do somethmg that he hked to do 1nstead of keeplng house I paxd my tax: fare and began to walk about when suddenly a ha1r brush dropped m front of me I looked up and there from the wxndow of a fourteenth story wxndow I saw Corlyn dry1ng her ha1r She had taken t1me from her edxtorxal Job Corlyn was now a busy woman ed1t1ng the Reynolds Natmonal Weekly As I was look1ng up at Corlyn wxth the fear that she would drop another haxr brush on me I ran mto someone and he sa1d Excuse me mam I dxdn t notlce you The vo1ce had a deep southern accent and belonged to Duane Beachler He told me that he was ralsmg cotton m Alabama 1nstead of cane as he once dxd xn good old Reynolds Hxgh I cont1nued on my Journey about town and mn a vacant lot there was a huge cxrcus tent w1th large pxctures of a beaut1ful acrobat why sure enough It was Bonme Nutz As I was looklng 1n amazement at the pxctures a hon suddenly appeared In front of me and after nearly scarmg me to death I not1ced that followmg close behmd hxm was the hon tarner why sure enough lt was Duane Safar I stopped to talk to h 'n and asked h1m how he happened to be a hon tamer I-Ie told me that h1s frxend Bud 1. e1s an Afrxcan Jungle explorer had gxven h1m a hon for a Chnstmas present and smce then he has had a fond hlung for hons 14 6 and sure enough it was Roscoe. My word! Roscoe a taxi driver? I asked him why I was very glad to get away from the lxons After that 11tt1e scare I was very hung ry so I went downtown and there above a huge buxldxng was a brxght neon sxgn readmg The Blue Angel B111 Krause Proprmetor Remember1ng that B111 was once a classmate I decmded to patromze h1s restaurant As I was eatmng the most de11c1ous meal I glanced at the cover of a magazme wlnch I had bought at the corner magazme stand and there on the cover was a very famxhar face why sure enough xt was Frances G1bson She was now a powers model After I fmxshed my lunch I walked about the town and notxcmg a museum I went znsxde to look around The fn-st thxng I saw was a trophy won by the basket ball team from Reynolds Hxgh School m 1949 Above the case m which mt was placed were the words Rare and Valuable I contmued to look around and notxced a man bus1ly mterested xn a snake and as he turned I not1ced xt was Vernon M111us He was now a nat1onally known sc1ent1st and the buxlder of the Reynolds H1St0rlC Museurn After my journey through the musemn I was walkmg about the streets of th1s falr cxty when I notxced the sxgn RHS ln large red letters I decmded mt must be the rad1o statxon Smce lhad always wanted to see a radxo broadcast I walked 1nto the bulldxng Shortly after I was seated the show began The announcer came onto the stage and mtroduced the stars Jams Junker and Dwanne Sexmsen famous novelxst Norber Heller Just as the Curtam was rxsxng a voxce spoke 1n and saxd Delores what was the answer to quest1on ten OH my goodness I must have fallen asleep +4-anwwozxao-144444111:-Mxwwcaorae-414:-exams: 0 I1 The Sun D1al the h1gh school s newspaper was started ln 1932 under the sponsorsh1p of M1ss Fxsher lt 1S pubhshed by the Jun1or and Semor Englxsh classes Th1s year Corlyn DeFra1n has been edmtor the f1rst semester and Frances Gmbson the second Each Senmor staff member has had a J'un1or assxstant and the fxfth xssue had an all Junxor staff w1th Dawn I-Iellbusch actlng as edxtor The last xssue was the spec1al Semor xssue Mrs Cramer and Mr Vance have been Co sponsors Approxxmately one hundred and fourteen cop1es of each of the s1x xssues were publxshed The subscrxptxon pr1ce was twenty cents to the school ch1ldren th1rty fxve cents to the town people and f1fty cents 1f ma11ed to the subscmbers An exchange of pubhcatxon wxth the other schools of the county and 1n other states was mamtamed Th1s gave us an opportumty to see what other schools d1d and to pass our ldeas on to them The Sun Dxal was self supported and fxlled a worthy need of the school 15 playing the leading roles in the play My Last Mother-in-law , by the world It 19 ' I ll la ggbfflvv .TUNIOR CLASS SOPHOMORE CLASS ral-:sl-IMAN cmss 1 7 unior ew.4 In September 1946, fifteen Freshrnen were initiated into Reynolds High School. Secretary and Treasurer Mrs Ben Priefert . . Sponsor Harry Groathouse dropped out soon after school started leaving fourteen Freshmen The next year brought back fifteen Sophomores Wayne Roden having moved here At the second semester Dudley Smith joined the class making a total of sixteen The following were class officers Dayrel Warren President Dawn Hellbusch Vice President Frieda Riddle Secretary and Treasurer Rozella Michels Student Councillor Miss Chamberlain Sponsor Three of the class participated in dramatics Darrel Wolcott went to the State Fine Arts Festival The Junior year brought back fourteen members Wayne and Dudley hax ing moved away Dayrel Warren and Frieda Riddle were chosen King and Queen of the all school carnival The following were elected for class officers Darrel Wolcott Nyla Cerveny Darline Steffens Mrs Cramer President Vice President Secretary and Treasurer Student Councillor Sponsor ber 6 1942 and was directed by Mrs Cramer The cast was Rozella Michels Otis Boyd Darrel Wolcott Esther Shoup Luther Lakey Jo Ann Shoup Eva Slagle Dawn Hellbusch Mrs Castle Mr Castle Conrad Castle Kitty Castle Dale Castle Mrs Clayton Maggie Clayton Gaby Parker Dawn Hellbusch . . . . . . . . ' The Junior Class Play, Crazy Castle, was a success. It was held Decem op omore ewa The class of 1951 had twelve enrolled as Freshmen But as Sophomores they claimed only eleven as David Krnzie dropped out and Donald Kxle enrolled in the Beatrice H1gh School Helen K1ssell is the new member Officers were elected as follows President Junior Cerveny Vice President Eugene Cerveny Secretary Helen Kissell Treasurer Leo Feis Student Council Donald Gregory Sponsor Mr Vance Two members of the class Junior Cerveny and Donald Gregory were members of the first basketball squad Robert Gibson Rodney Hellbusch Harlan Fangmier and Edward Nutz also partlcipated in athletics Junior Cerveny won three rlbbons the Pioneer Track Meet Helen Melvm gave a dramatic reading at the Pioneer Dramatic contest and the entrre class participated in the play Spreading the News presented on Patron s Day grea Dian ew.4 Thirteen Freshmen registered in Reynolds High School September 6 1 49 Officers elected were Pres rdent Marvin Heller Vice President James Brandt Secretary LaRue .Tunker Student Council Dwight Safar An imtiation party was held in the gymnasium September 19 and the Freshmen gave a return party October Z7 All Freshmen boys partxczpated rn Athletics Marvin Heller Dwight Safar and James Brandt being regulars on the second team All girls played volleyball and two Erlene Welch and Marilyn Priefer participated in dramatics 19 . . . . i . . in All Sophomore girls participated in girls' athletics. . . . .
