SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM Reynolds school feels justly proud of the lunch program which it has sponsored for the last seven years Students participating ln the program this year paid eight teen cents per meal teachers paid twenty five cents Mrs Grace Dragoo and Mrs Ethel Orr served as lunch room cooks during the year Wanda DeFrain acted as student collector of meal payments .To Ann Shoup has assisted Mrs Dragoo and Mrs Orr ln the lunch room this year Mr Paul Vance supervised the program maintained records of all operations, and made the required monthly reports to the state department The lunch program was the result of the National Lunch Act passed by Congress in June, 1946 and was handled through the State Department of Public Instruction Under the plan assistance was given at the rate of nine cents for each Type meal whxch included milk and seven cents for each Type A meal which dxd not include mxlk A Type A meal was required to meet certain nutritional requirements During the year the following new equipment has been added A Garland Gas Range. a three compartment sink 30 gallon hot water heater two new cupboards and new At varxous txmes during the year surplus commodities were received through a state commod1ty chstrxbutxon plan These :tems were made avazlable for local consurnption by payment of transportatxon from a distributmn center at elther Beatnce or L1ncoln On a perfect attendance day one hundred and mne students and teachers have eaten lunches at school Flfty from the lugh school thzrty from the Grarnmar room and twenty mne from the Pnmary room The students enjoyed the hght, fresh buns and apple butter very much durmg the year The cooks baked at least two hundred and twenty fxve buns a day The cook wish to express thexr gratftude for such a splendfd group to cook for . ll Af' ' ll U' ' silverware. Plans are being made to obtain some new glasses and plates.
