DEAN TATE PRINCIPAL PRlNClPAL'S MESSAGE The two years I have spent as principal at Reynolds have flown like a supersonic missile. One of the hallmarks of a desirable iob is the fleeting of time. During this rapid two year tenure, I have formed several impressions of this, your school. One impression is that Reynolds students are, for the most part, mature, responsible young adults. Another is that your school is a fine physical plant. Also students should be aware of the fact that their faculty is one of the State's finest. Reynolds teachers have been carefully selected. They attend special classes, summer and year-long institutes in modern teaching methods, and they are dedicated to bringing to each student the most modern concepts in education commensurate with each student's ability to learn. Students should be proud of their school. This pride should manifest itself in respect for school property, support of school teams, self discipline in and out of the classroom, and the desire to do well. This desire to do well is especially im- portant to the considerably more than half of you who enroll in colleges upon your gradua- tion from Reynolds. All colleges, state and pri- vate, are increasing their entrance requirements to the point that a student can no longer af- ford to iust get-by in anticipation of waking up academically once he enters college. Preparation for college is, however, only one of the functions of a modern comprehensive high school. More important is preparation for life. The record-social, academic, and personal - each student makes at Reynolds will last him the rest of his lite. This far-reaching importance of the high school record is true whether you go on to school, get a iob, or get married. Make the most of your experience here. The record cannot be retraced-it is lasting and indelible. Remember that not only is the academic and activity record permanent and lasting but also the friendships and social contacts set the pat- tern and establish the reputation. Covet your friends like you covet your grades-both will stand you in good stead in the years to come. Dean W. Tate
