The feeling . . . Of time rushing past So quickly-too quickly! Many friends will soon leave To go out on their own Bringing closer thoughts of my future Senior year rushes to meet me College just around the corner. With one more hour Another day perhaps A time of concentration We could rise up Surpass, surprise ourselves And all of our ambitions. Maybe even trust an unclenched fist Through an empty cloud Or pass a golden galaxy And with some patience And no little practice Even touch the lower sky. 5 9 This is the day for love, for joy, For striving and for giving . . . Tomorrow is a dreamer's dream. This is the day for living. 10 The woes of yesterday are gone... They've taken wings and flown away; Defeats or triumphs are a part of history... We now make plans for another day. Escorted by Ken Artman, Sharon Scott was crowned 1980 Homecoming Queen. Senior attendants were Carolyn Krieder and Mindi Selan; junior attendant was Amy Reimold; sophomore attendant was Karen Suich; freshman attendant was Rhonda Shearer. The theme was Southern Night with the Reynolds and Grove City Marching Units performing a tribute to the Civil War through the re-enactment of the actual fighting. The members of both marching units, their hands clasped in friendship, crossed the field while the spectators watched with tearful eyes. But that wasn't all — the football team came off the field with a victory. 13 H fThis year's Crest Staff proudly recognizes Mr. nald F. The first thing the couples noticed was the replica of a lighthouse and a palm tree in the center of the floor. The theme, Come Sail Away, was represented by the murals of ships and mermaids on the once-plain walls, the starfish-decorated fishnet which covered the bleachers, and the little boats made of seashells which served as centerpieces on the tables. The couples danced to the beat of Crossroads, which was roped off on a pier. When the couples got hungry or thirsty, they could dance over to the tropical hut, reminiscent of Cilligan's Island, where punch and cookies were served. All in all, a wonderful time was had by everyone. HD31 -OA SCROOGE On December 18, the Reynolds High School Concert Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Perkovic, presented a musical version of the Dickens' classic Scrooge. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the rented costumes, amateur make-up, and arrangement of the stage. The choir was separated from the stage scenes by a cloth screen or scrim borrowed from Thiel College, which made the Choir appear in silhouette. For all their hard work, the choir was rewarded by an enthusiastic audience throughout the entire performance, as well as a standing ovation. In the past, the members of the Youth Education Association have made this selection. This year the entire student body was given an opportunity to vote. Mr. Ruffo, a language arts teacher in the Junior High School, graduated from Hickory High School in 1973. He attended Edinboro State College, where he majored in English. As an added responsibility at Reynolds High School, he is the head basketball coach and an assistant to the football coach. He is good at both of these jobs, and the basketball program has improved with him as the head coach. When asked about his hobbies, Mr. Ruffo replied that he especially likes skiing, basketball, and, in fact, all sports. He mentioned that he also loves the ladies, but his present plans are to stay single. On behalf of the Reynolds' student body, congratulations to you, Mr. Terry Ruffo. 98 ADMINISTRATION - SECRETARIES UPPER. School Board. Row 7. Mr. Olson, Mr. McNeelege, President; Mrs. Gehres. Row 2. Yours has just begun. So carry on without me, Please try to be strong, I wouldn't want you crying, Because I am gone. Now I'm in a better place, Where love and peace abound, The skies are always blue, And the lilies bloom year round. Sickness, tears, and sorrow, No longer take their toll, For when I reached heaven, I was made whole. So don't mourn my passing, I've finally ceased to roam. At last I've reached my destiny, I have made it home. . . . EST UD!ANT ES DE INTERCAMBIO This year we have had the pleasure of having two foreign exchange students, Andres Murua and Cesar Menacho, as part of the Reynolds student body. Andres Murua is from Valparai'se, Chile, where he attends an all boys' school. He came to America as a Youth for Understanding Exchange Student and is staying with the Eichinger family in Transfer. Andres enjoys running and has participated in both Cross-Country and Track. Pizza and Snickers” are Andres' favorite American food, especially Snickers”, because they don't have them in Chile. Andres likes our teaching system because you can choose your own subject and move from class to class. Whereas in Chile, you don't pick the classes you wish to take, and the teachers move from class to class. He also likes the girls and feels the student body of Reynolds is very friendly. Cesar Menacho, this year's Rotary Exchange Student, comes from Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Before coming to America, Cesar attended a German school. He is staying with the Robertson family. Cesar is active in Science and Math Clubs, FFA, and is a member of the basketball team. He is an outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, bike riding, and skating. He plays the guitar and loves all types of music — from hard driving rock to soft romantic ballads. One of his favorite groups is Savia Andinca, which plays traditional Bolivian music. Two of the things Cesar likes best about America are the teaching methods and the girls, whom he describes as much more honest We have really enjoyed both exchange students by learning all about their country and culture, and we hope they have enjoyed their stay in America. We would also like to wish them the best of luck after they leave Reynolds. SENIOR TR1-HI-Y 162 UPPER. Row 7. Remember the time seemed to be the only phrase we knew. When will see you again? Please keep in touch and don't ever forget me. The locker room - remember all the subjects we discussed in the locker room. Where will everyone go? What will we become? Yesterday we were the children of the future Tomorrow our children will become the Phildren of the future. T cy will grow and learn as we did, to face ■' what we thought was the end of the world. -'■ «'«ITT
