CLASS HISTORY 56-57 On August 51, 1956, thirty-six unexperienced travelers secured tickets at the Reynolds Commun- ity High School depot. They were bound for a four year trip on the streamline train, the nRocketW. They first came in contact with the railroad exec- utives which were: Mr. Fred Bridgford, pricipal, Mr. Lyle Gustafson, Miss Doris Houston, Mr. Clyde McDaniel, Mr, Ross Robinson, Miss Mary Seaton, and Miss Mary Zwicker. The conduetor of our group for the first year were Dorothy Bull, Ina Fas Roe, and Helen Dunlap. Mr. Lyle Gustafson was chosen as head engineer for the journey. During our trip we took time out for various types of entertainment. The passengers entering in musical contest work were: Maureen Brown, Larene Curtis, Helen Dunlap, Marian Danielson, and Ione ' Ketzle. Our chorus visited such places as Macomb, Normal, and Aledo. In Aledo they rated superior. A great treat to the Rocket riders was to either attend or take part in the operetta entitled nwind- mills of Hollandn. Maureen Brown, Betty Curtis, Helen Dunlap, and Janet Hicks took part in this production. Also three girls aboard our streamline loco- motive participated in dramatics. They were Dorothy Bull, Betty Curtis, and lone Ketzle. When our train stopped at Rock Island, Freeman Elliott decided to join us. Oscar Davis also came aboard when we visited Alexis. The gentlemen travelers had to have some type of exercise so they volunteered to atheletic calls. Those who engaged in active sports were Robert Dings, Freeman Elliott, William Mack, John Patterson, Lawrence Potter, Eugene Sproston, Donald Westpfahl, and Wilbur Winegard. When the last month of our freshman journey came, we were no longer unexperienced travelers, but were ready to take up our tasks as sophomore Rocket engineers. 1 .w,4f,f.,1J 5,4fj,,Q,., 0, ,Q
