I have enjoyed meeting and knowing you, and I hope you feel the same Way towards me. When I was granted my AFS scholarship, I was temporarily dis- mayed by the words of an American girl living in Brisbane, my ci , l:yGee, she said, I don't know how you'll get on-at my school you could go fortwo weeks before anyone showed you to the cafe- teria! Of course, it could be different for you, as an exchange student. It has been very different for me. At first no one knew whol was, after all, I don't look any different. However, all AFS'ers are encouraged to ask if they are confused. I did, andthe situation was saved by my British accent! School life in the States has been an exciting, new experience for me. I am used to attending an all-girl school where emphasis is placed on discipline and academics. Here I have learned to enjoy school as a social institution as well. I was thrilled to be elected as a Homecoming Princess in 1968. I felt honoured to be accepted by the school in this way. I have enjoyedparticipating invarious activities. I looked forwardeagerly One of the most memorable events was my trip to Reno with the school Stage Band. It was a wonderful opportunity to see more of your country, and I am very grateful to the school for paying my way. I especially liked following the Putnam sport's teams in League matches. I hadnever seenAmericanfootball or basketball before, andl shall always remember the fun and excitement of attending games and pep assemblies. Whenl go home to Australia, I hope to graduate from high school there and later attend the University of Queensland. My plans for the future are not definite but they certainly include meeting my friends and family from America again. Love and best wishes,
