5111215 5he Night Before Qtaduation T was the night before Graduation, when all through the dorm, The Seniors were all waiting for that glorious morn. Our graduate uniforms were all pressed and starched, As we waited and anticipated that unforgettable march. The Seniors, all gathered for their last rendezvous Couldn't wait for the change to whites from blues . While we planned for the time when we all would be parted, We laughed as we thought of the day that we started. The year '61-the month of September, Oh me! Oh my! I-low well we remember, - Those first days of homesickness and evenings of fun Were soon to be forgotten as classes begun. We all worked together, each side by side, And our only perfume was our cat's formaldehyde! We learned how to properly give an injection, And memorized the symptoms of a million infections. Oh, but it was hard, to cram in the knowledge, But all of us knew our way to State College! Finally the night came when none of us napped, For the day had arrived when we would be capped. We donned our caps and felt like kings As we moved on along to bigger and better things . And when we grew weary, someone would remind us, At least we now had that first year behind us. Now we were juniors and we moved up the hall, Tormented the Freshmen --and had a ball. OB and DR and the Newborn nursery, OR, Pediatrics, Medicine and Surgery. Hopefully we planned for a weekend of heaven, Then they told us our shift was, of course, 3 to 11. But just as it seemed we could no longer stand We found consolation in our little black band. And when we grew weary, someone would remind us, At least we now had two years behind us. Now we were Seniors-and surely proud of it, 'Though the thoughts of State Boards was nothing to covet. We packed up our bags and moved to the Hill , Where for three months we cared for the mentally ill. Then back to Rex we came with such a clatter, No one had to look to see what was the matter. It was home to the old room and all of our buddies- And staying up nights writing bib cards and case studies. The Emergency Room was full of much drama, But working 11 to 7 was really great trauma. We helped the patients their burdens to bear And treated them all with Intensive Care . When we now grow weary, no one has toremind us, That our three years at Rex are now all behind us. For our dream has come true as we hopefully prayed it, And with tear-dimmed eyes, we sigh-- GRADUATION , W 25 made it
