CAN WE EVER FORGET ALL OF OUR WONDERFUL HELLACIOUS, GLORIFIED BEAUTIFUL, HECTIC DAYS AS STUDENT NURSES? 39 'E M ii 3 Dear Rex, Time has passed so quickly! It seems like only yesterday when we began. We walked up your steps to enter a new phase of life and found lasting friendships, as well as knowledge and under- standing of our fellowman. Those first weeks...We laughed, We cried, formed opinions, and changed opinions. We discovered the village-the night-spots- and State College. Our first date with a college man-weren't we THE STUFF? And remember those all-night bridge games?-No doubt about it, you could call us nothing but premmies. Time passed quickly and left memories that will forever linger, and all of a sudden it was capping time. Those smallpiecesof cloth symbolizing we'd made the grade, and finally we were Worthy of the title JUNIORS. y I yi T 'gt it f With our second year came special services: O. R., O.B. Pediatrics and the Hill th 1 ree more months of a completely different life. As we returned to R ex, we brought with us a concept of life ' 'm lf, new , many new experiences and friends. As We learned We matured, and as time 1' ll d d f' ' ' o e on, we were e initely on the road to womanhood. O ' ' ur Senior year was spent in V much anticipation, not only in our role as professional graduate nurs es, but of marriages, homes, and families. And then August twenty-fifth was here, we had achieved our goal. As We walked down the aisle, each experienced a different thought, but as realization of The End at Rex came, so came the beginning of bigger things to come. Three long, short wonderf l u years, and now nothing is left but majestic memories. . . Not only is scholarship important in the choosing of these students, but also 'the ways in which they have proven themselves outstanding nurses. At the Banding ceremony each August, a small gold pin is presented in recognition of their very exceptional bedside nursing. Monthly meetings are held and the entire student body is invited to attend, at which many varied and interest- ing programs are available. A highlight of the year is the summer state-wide conference, at which time students from the various schools throughout the state convene and share ideas and projects. 65 Many long hours are spent in the library, by all students, broadening our education.
