MISS WILLIAMS -K MISS HAZEI. C. XVILLIAMS, our Superintendent of Nurses, has been with us for the past three years. Although Salisbury, N. C., is her birthplace, Danville, Va., has been her home since early childhood. The stepping stones in Miss XVilliams' education are: Danville High School, Danville, Va., Queens' College, Charlotte, N. C., St. I.uke's School of Nursing, Richmond, Va., Columbia University, New York City, N. Y., and University of Virginia, Richmond, Va. She received her R.N. from the St. I.uke's School of Nursing and a B.S. in Nursing Education from the University of Virginia. Miss VVilliams came to us in 1942 with an experience record which would be hard to equal or surpass. She was Superintendent of the Hospital and Nurses at Guilford General Hospital in High Point for 4- years, Charlotte Sanitoriuni for 4 years, St. Peters' Hospital in Charlotte for 9 years, and served as Director of Nurses at Charlotte Memorial Hospital for 1 year. She is an active club worker and holds a membership in many clubs, including the Altrusia Club of Raleigh and the Charlotte Business and Professional VVoman's Club, which she helped to organize. Miss VVilliams was president of District 3, N. C. State Nurses' Association for two years and treasurer for two years. She was vice president of the N. C. State Nurses' Association and is the present president of the organization. Despite the above, Miss VVilliams leads a normal everyday life. She is a Presbyterian and an ardent church goer. Her pet hobbies are anesthesia, and cooking. Bibliographies are her favorites, but she reads all the current professional literature. Possessor of a keen sense of humor, Miss VVilliams is just one of us in civilian life. If you don't believe it, ask her about the time that she was nearly drowned! 9
