They also supervise elections of Homecoming and May royalty and plan half-time ceremonies for the Home- coming Game. XY'ith funds obtained by the sale of candy during the first semester, Student Council bought coat racks for the school to be used at dances, P.T.A. meetings. and other group gather- ings. They sponsored Dress-Up Day on February 25, had an exchange visit from Hudson High Student Council, and treated the teachers to dinner and a show in Cleveland during March. Membership in Council is strictly through election. LANTERN In April, l957. the Revere Lantern received, for the second time. the Northeastern Ohio Schol- astic Press Association award for the best school paper in high schools of under-500 enrollment in Northeastern Ohio. The Lantern also was given a first place award by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, of Columbia University. Published every three weeks, the Lantern chooses its staff members by try-out articles. A six-page issue was put out for Christmas. In january, the journalism classes and Lantern staff went through the Akron Beacon Journal. QUILL AND SCROLL Quill and Scroll is a national honorary organ- ization for outstanding high school journalism stu- dents Requirements for membership include being a junior or senior and being in the upper third of your class. Requirements for entrance include having a C average and being a Junior or Senior. Seniors from F.T,A. having B averages will act as substitute teachers for the elementary schools. F.T.A. will also plan Senior Day, when the Seniors take over classes and administration. F.T.A. is collecting college and university bulletins and in- formation on scholarships for the use of interested students. This group acted as host for the Summit County Career Day on March 25. In this way the girls not joining in September could join in January. The girls held monthly meetings and activities.
