Basketball Chelsea at Revere Revere Hlgh absorbed their seventh defeat ln elght starts as they were trimmed for the second time th1s season by the Chelsea Red Devils, this by a 65 48 count The Blue and Whlte and the Red Devils played nlp and tuck until the last four minutes of the game when unensea puueu me game out or me me lor LIIUII' win Revere placed only four men ln the scormg column and only two were in double digits as Taylor led the team with 22 pomts and Joe Fusco tossed ln 14 as runnerup Revere at Medford The Blue and White from RHS traveled to the Medford Hlgh Gym Tuesday afternoon February 1 to play the Mustangs ln the only afternoon game of the season for the Beach Clty Boys Reveres attempt to notch their second vlctory of the season was smothered as they were set back 1n thelr fifth consecutive game Freddy Taylor again led the club ln scorlng as he was responsible for 27 of Reveres 63 pomts Two other Revere players placed ln the double digits as Everett Jenkins hlt for 11 pomts and was closely followed by Sonny Slgnore who swlshed 1n 10 pomts Qumcy at Revere For the second time this season a Qulncy quintet once more stopped a hard fighting Revere five this time by an 86 67 verdlct The score would 1nd1cate that Qumcy had an easy time of it Friday night but it was Just the opposlte as thc Blue and Whlte were very much ln contention throughout the game The one thmg that hurt Revere was that they couldn t seem to get golng agalnst the Granlte Clty Hlgh scorers for Revere were Fred Taylor Wlth 25 points poured ln 111 field goalsj and Everett Jenkins with 11 pomts Revere at Lowell Victory starved slnce their fourth game of the season on January 14 Revere traveled to Lowell for their eleventh game and ended their long losmg streak Wlth a 57 47 trlumph Th1s contest was evenly played throughout the course of the game At the end of the first period the Blue and White had opened up an 18 8 lead which proved to be the most pomts which had separated the two teams throughout the evenlng In the second Period Lowell cut down Reveres lead as they outscored our boys 18 14 At half tlme the score board read Revere 32 Lowell 26 The th1rd stanza proved to be hard fought and close as Revere outscored the Lowell FIVE by the close margin of 12 11 and also built up their lead by 7 pomts as they now led 44 37 The game was clinched ln the fourth quarter as Revere bullt up thelr lead as they once more outscored Lowell by a 13 10 margin and thus won the game by a 10 point spread 57 47 Ronnie Paul and Freddy Taylor proved too much for the Lowell team as they reglstered in double figures 1n the scoring column Ronnie Paul had 24 pomts 9 field goals and 6 free throws whlle Taylor had 16 polnts scored 3 field goals and 10 free throws Everett at Revere The Blue and White Basketeers in less than two days scored thelr second consecutlve vlctory of the week as they turned in an upset on a good Everett team by the count of 73 59 Three of the Revere Hlgh squad tallied ln double dlgxts as Revere outplayed Everett throughout the entlre game From the beglnnmg of the game Revere had a commanding lead and at half tlme they were well out 1n front by a 34 24 count Thelr longest lead came about ln the third quarter as they were out 1n front by 15 pomts lead mg 51 36 In the final stanza Everett trled to rally but the Blue and Whlte romped 73 59 to keep the1r w1nn1ng streak alive Hlgh scorer for Revere was Fred Taylor w1th 22 pomts scored Q20 pomts on field goalsj Arthur Slgnore was runner up w1th 19 pomts scored Ronnle Paul scored 6 field goal shots Somerville at Revere Revere Hlgh s two game Wlllnlng streak was snapped by the league leading Somerville qluntet at the Llncoln Gym Tuesday February 15 as the v1s1tors scored a hard fought 94 57 win over our Blue and White The Revere team threw a scare 1nto the league leaders as they out scored them in each of the first two p9l'10dS and at half tlme trotted off the floor leadlng the Somervllle qulntet 38 34 Somerville forged ahead ln the third perlod to lead 64 45 Agaln Taylor was the blg gun for Revere scoring 34 pomts Revere at Malden The RHS Hoop Team traveled to Malden to close out their 1955 basketball campaign Friday February 18 by bowing to a stronger Malden squad Malden had complete command throughout the entire game as they led most of the tlme but the Revere squad fought back gamely trying to overtake the lead A twenty one pomt span separated the two teams as Revere Hlgh tasted thelr eleventh defeat of the campaign Flnal score Malden 79 Revere 58 Freddy Taylor as he has done all season was the big gun for the Blue and Whlte as he hit for 19 pomts He closed out the season w1th a fine total of 289 pomts scored for the 14 game schedule and with a fine average of 21 pomts scored per game The final record of the season for the Blue and White showed 3 victories 11 defeats the reverse of last season's fine record -1 1 ' 11 1 .1 l if . 1-11 1- I 11 1- 11 -
