Page Sixteen Dear Mom and Dad, To show you how very much I appreciate all that you have done for me by giving me a Catholic education, and especially for sending me to Hes , I am writing this letter to you. I want you to know that all your work and worry does not go to naught. Ever since my first day in school when I was a little tot you've given me the best there was to be had in education, and I want to say in my own little way, Thanks. a million. I can remember the first day at school - the Sisters scared me at fi.rst, but after they talked to me in their own special manner, I liked them very much. You expected to take me home crying as you did Mary and lean when they started in, the first grade, but you didn't have to because I liked school very much. I sailed through eight years, or I should say, flew, because the time passed very quickly. Yes, before you knew it your skinny little freckly faced beanpole was growing up, much to your disappointment. Then I found my- self a Freshman at Res . What a let-down from a big-shot to a green little Freshie ! But that didn't last long for soon I was a Sophomore, then a Iunior, and finally a Senior. The dayl had long anticipated had come at last. Yes, ,it came fast and it passed twice as quickly. I enjoyed the privileges of a Senior through the Fall and Winter. Then after our semester exams I found myself in the third quarter, quickly followed by the last quarter which brought along with it Spring. It was a beautiful Spring - warm and sunshiny. That was one of the things that made my last year something never to be forgotten. Quite often I went for a walk with some of the other girls around the campus and as we found a nice shady tree and sat down, the thought kept racing through my rnind, and I'm sure through the minds of the other girls too, Enjoy this, Senior, for soon you'll be leaving. It was very hard to believe but those thoughts soon became a reality as on Commencement night I received my diploma and left with a heavy heart. It still didn't seem possible. However. after the exercises I realized that my high school education was as full as it could ever be and I was very thankful to you, Mom and Dad, for everything you did for me during that happy phase of my life. Again I say from the bot- tom of my heart, Thanks, a million, Mom and Dad . Your loving daughter. l
