AROUND THE WORLD CLUB With travel and interest in foreign countries on their minds, ninety Regents assemble every Thursday during noon for a most stimulating forty-five minutes. This group is under the dual direction of Mrs. Barbara Faust and Dr. Mary Harker, Every Week during their meetings these students have the opportunity to View travel programs or listen to a speaker who has experi- enced life in another country. Aside from this Weekly assemblage, there have been several presentations for the benefit of the entire student body. Mr. Galen Young showed his pictures of Europe, Our American Abroad Student Barbara Caleen, spoke on her happenings in Germany, and a tea was given in honor of Eija Hiejman currently attending Reseda. With all these functions to their credit, the Around the World Club has aroused much interest in foreign countries for many Regents. Q--magnum-sr: PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY C a m e r a enthusiasts find their forte in Reseda's Photographic So- ciety. The fifty members, under the direction of Mr. Warren King, express their acute interest in pho- tography on scenic field trips to places that seem to be made for photographing. For special enjoy- ment they have scavenger hunts for certain types of photos. This club promotes interest in photography as either a hobby or vocation. Ronnie Hill acted as president With the other officers being Steve Ableman, vice presi- dent, Vern Nelson, secretary, and Carole Brown, treasurer. STUDENT STORE Honesty, integrity and Willingness to Work are prominent characteristics ot the Student Store helpers. Every day before school, at nutrition, at lunch and after school these students assist Regents with the purchase ot their school supplies. Mrs. Anne Nelson supervises this service group ot 34 students Who gain valuable experience in sales- manship and management. OFFICE HELPERS Students interested in assisting in the smooth operation ot the offices in the administration building compose the Ottice I-lelpers. These pupils can be pursuing any major, and helping in an ottice counts tive credits to- ward graduation. The Health Office, Counselors Ottice, Attendance Gt- tice, Main Cttice and both Vice Prin- cipals ottices are indebted to the in- dustrious students Who loyally give their services. LIBRARY HELPERS Checking books in and out, replac- ing them on their respective shelves, helping Regents locate pertinent ret- erence m a t e r i al and keeping a friendly atmosphere in the library are all responsibilities ot the 45-SU Regents serving one period a day in the library. Mrs. Keating bases her selections ot students to work tor her upon their past and present citizenship record. These Regents Who give their ser- vice to the school gain much know- ledge about the organization ot a library and helptul literary informa- tion.

EPHEBIAN SOCIETY To honor outstanding seniors and to dedicate oneself to civic responsibilities as an adult is the aim of the Ephebian Society. Aside from maintaining a B average, with an excellent student service and leadership record, all members must be elected to the Ephebian Society by the Regentville faculty and senior ayes. Sponsored by Mrs. Barth and Mrs. Gillett, Ephebians participate in a city-wide initiation the Sunday before graduation. Being awarded member- ship in Ephebians is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on any Regent, for only one out of every forty graduates is chosen for membership. WINTER EPHEBIANS: Dorothy Bowman, Ken Cloke, Ken Grant, Maxine Ott. SUMMER EPHE- BIANS: Warren Brandli, Barbara Caleen, Dave Cole, Steve Coopersmith, Ieff Cullen, Salley Garey, lerry Kryder, Ierry LaBeaune, Tom LaBelle, Karen Laing, Linda Lang, Barbara Lusk, Roberta Robinson, Susie Sale, Marsha Sandin, Warren Solt, Sandy Weitzel, Doreen Winnick. Knowledge of nature and aesthetics, C ASTRONOMY CLUB Avid star-gazers are the ten members of the Astronomy Club. These astute stu- dents, under the direction of Mrs. Del- gado, spend their spare time sharing their interest in the heavenly bodies. Every Wednesday night, this group at- tends an engrossing moon watch in San Fernando. During the semester, they have regular night meetings and also specially prepared lectures during school at nutri- tion. The highlight of this yea.r's activities was a field trip to the Planetarium, where they delved into the science of astronomy and attended the interesting and enlight- ening program scheduled for that eve- ning. ASTRONOMY CLUB: Row 1: Martha Mueller, Sherilyn Butler, Marvin Iohnson, Bob Lindsay, Torn Schmidt, George VanDuinwyk, Carolyn Baller. NATURALIST CLUB A high level of interest or a special apti- tude for the natural sciences characterizes the members of Beseda's Naturalist Club. Field trips comprise most of these stu- dents' activities. This semester they had an excursion to Marineland and took a tour of the weather station at T.W.A. ln- ternational Airport. They also gathered specimens for observation on two trips to tide pools and increased their scope of knowledge in this field at the research de- partment of the UCLA Medical Center. Providing interest for the entire student body, this club sponsored the Science Fair, which allows any aspiring student to display any of his work in this aspect of learning. y Mrs. Hopper, Mr. Karlin, and Mr. Gielow, the sponsors, feel that this club has pro- . moted great interest in the natural sciences.
