lerry Labeaune and Marty Fouchey reach high for a valuable rebound against the Huskies. VARSITY BASKETBALL The Varsity Basketball team, under the leadership of Coach Lee, finished the season in a tie for third place with Canoga Park. ln the first league game the Regent five were turned back by a formidable San Fernando squad, 66 to 49. The next game, against Poly, ended with Reseda on top, 50 to 27. lt took a last-quarter drive by the North Hollywood Huskies to pull out a 65 to 52 win over our hoopsters. The Regents coasted to a 48 to Sl win against Valley League new- comer Monroe, and lost a heartbreaker to the Van Nuys Wolves, 62 to 53. The Varsity brought happiness to Regent- ville when they won their game with the cross-town rivals, Birmingham, by a score of 5l to 46. Canoga fell prey to the Regents, 45 to 40, to end the first round of play. The first game of the second round with San Fernando found the Regents on the short end of a 48 to 44 score. The Regents again beat Poly, 49 to 44, but North Hollywood again put damp- ers on Regent hopes when they toppled the local five, 67 to 38. Hapless Monroe was drubbed again to the tune of 59 to 30, The Regents lost to Van Nuys, 70 to 56, but not before some fine effort was shown by our team. Many Regent tears were shed when the team lost to Birm- ingham, 32 to 29, but the season ended victoriously for the Regents as they beat Canoga Park, 5l to 43. ructice and p1'ecision proved vital VARSITY BASKETBALL: Row 1: Starr, I.
