We were: Barbara Boman, Steven El- liott, Rodney Petersen, Dennis Erkenbrack, Robert Munson, Vickie Harlan, Douglas Simms, Charles Morlan, Linda Sheppard, and Jerry Barnaby. Our teacher was Miss Carol Schreiber. In the second grade, in the new schoolhouse, under Mrs. Mitchell we had a new arrival, Ricky Arnold, who left us the following summer. In the third and fourth grade under Mrs. Tallent we gained two new pupils: Charles Tuman and Morris Daugherty and Linda Sheppard left us. We entered the fifth grade with many new ambitions and ideas, and with the happy thought that we were finally growing up. Mrs. Huckeby was our fifth grade teacher and we acquired a new classmate, Roberta Butler, and lost Charles Morlan. We went through the sixth grade without losing or gaining anyone. Mrs. Novak was our teacher. With the seventh grade came a new teacher. Miss Anthony, and two new pupils from the Lake Country School, George Eberly and Ruth Ocobock. We lost Charles Tuman. During the eighth grade we enjoyed many different experiences, among them the eighth grade trip and an undefeated basketball season. In the last six weeks a little blonde by the name of Nancy Shulda joined us. We graduated under Miss Anthony. That summer we lost Morris Daugherty and Roberta Butler. In the fall of '58, fourteen ornery freshmen bombarded the halls of R. H. S. with their mischievous pranks and antics. They were the following: Douglas Simms, Vickie Harlan, Barbara Boman, Steven Elliott, Rodney Petersen, Bob Munson, Dennis Erkenbrack, Ruth Ocobock, George Eberly and Nancy Shulda. The new members of the class were: Janis Dunback, Gene Heyka, Cheryl Gillilian, and Linda Fuller. Our sponsor was Mrs. Nicholls. Our class remained the same during the remaining year with Cheryl Gillilian and Linda Fuller leaving during our Sophomore year. Our High School years have been filled with many wonderful memories, activities, class plays, parties, dances, car washes, hikes, and a string of others too numerous to mention. Mr. Ukens was our class sponsor for the last three years. Seven of the twelve present seniors started school in the first grade at Republic. They are: Barbara Boman, Vickie Harlan, Douglas Simms, Rodney Petersen, Dennis Erkenbrack, Steven Elliott, and Robert Munson. The other five seniors are: Nancy Shulda, Janis Dunback, Gene Heyka, George Eberly, and Ruth Ocobock. BARRETT'S IGA, Belleville, Kansas FAJEN HARDWARE, Republic, Kansas SIS SEED AND FERTILIZER, Belleville, Kansas ttm 'Jwpkcti As long as we are going to be separated soon, the Class of 1962 invented a time machine to enable us to look at ourselves exactly ten years from now in 1972. As we crank up our time machine the big screen focuses on each member of our class. We encountered the following: Barbara Boman is about to begin her next movie entitled Tiger in the Cage. Since graduation from R. H. S., she has become the most famous actress in the world. She and her husband are now living on their mink ranch in Beverly Hills which entitles her to have her own tailormade mink coats. Now as we look upon Rodney Petersen we see him and his rather large family in his penthouse on top of the Empire State Building. Finishing high school he became the Number 1 racketeer in America. He has now turned the Empire State Building into the biggest gambling casino east of the Mississippi. Nancy Shulda, having completed eight years at Harvard, has got a secret government job brain washing Russian spies. On Khrushchev's last American tour, she got him to give secret information that proved vital to our security. Coming into view is George Eberly who has just finished designing a new metroplis on Mars. He calls it Twilight City. The whole city is covered by a huge glass dome made by the Eberly Destruction Company. George now lives in a glass house which is 175 feet from Mars' surface. Vickie Harlan is the head fashion designer in Macy's Department Store in New York City. She is now collecting royalties on her latest fashion called, Simplicity. In this fashion the hemline and neckline just met. She grad- uated in the top of her class from the Paris Fashion Salon in Paris, France. As we look over the horizon we see Gene Heyka laying in the shade operating his remote controlled twenty plow tractor. He has just begun using his 5000 cow self-operating feedlot. He owns and operates 10, 000 acres of irrigated land. He has 100 wells and is the biggest farmer in Republic County. Janis Dunback is now head accountant of Ford Motor Company in Detroit. After graduating from Brown-Mackie nine years ago, she received an offer from the Ford Motor Company and has worked herself up to her present position. She is now driving a '63 Chevrolet, which she bought after grad- uation. Ford Motor Company is trying to buy it for parts. As we hear tires squealing on the new improved 5000 mile Indianapolis speed- way we see Bob Munson take off in his new Turbo-Racer which he designed from his knowledge of drafting in Kansas City. He has got the biggest col- lection of '57 Pontiacs in the world. He lives in an apartment. PEOPLE'S NATIONAL BANK Belleville, Kansas Now our screen focuses on Washington D. C., and we see Ruth Ocobock at her desk in the Library of Congress. After four years at K. U. she became head librarian. She has recently consulted the President about starting a library on the moon. The Yankee Stadium is now coming into view. Dennis Erkenbrack is on the pitchers mound facing (he hopes) the last batter of the 1972 World Series. We wonder if he will be able to make this a no hitter. Finishing college at Fort Hays State he played four years with the Kansas City Athletics and after signing with the Yankees has become their star pitcher. Now, as we see a triple decker eight-leaf clover highway, we see Douglas Simms, its engineer, in one of the 7, 000 cars trying to find his way off. After finishing high school Doug attended eight years at K. State where he became a civil engineer. Now Doug lives in a tower above the highway. Our last picture on the screen is the dressing room of the Baltimore Colts. We see Steve Elliott and Johnny Unitas talking over the plans for tonights N. F. L. championship game with the Green Bay Packers. After playing four years for Stanford U., he has become the Colts star player. He lives in his huge 100 foot trailer house. CO-OP PROPANE, Concordia, Kansas SUPERIOR EXPRESS, Superior, Nebraska CLm 'J'om Barbara Boman, a blonde in our class. Now there's a very intelligent lass. She's planning on going to Brown-Mackie in May, She'll be a success in a close future day. Janis Dunback, who lives east of town. Is a very sweet girl, you seldom see her frown. She's always in there doing her best. Whether playing softball or taking a test. George Eberly, has his future planned. He says he plans to be a draftsman. You quite often see him driving around. We really don't know where next he'll be found. Steven Elliott, is six foot tall. He's real good at track, and he likes to play ball. He's a real good kid, and a Regular Joe, Not only that, he's a real Romeo. Dennis Erkenbrack, who's a star athlete, Helped give us a team that was real hard to beat, He's friendly and helpful, and yet stubborn too. But he'll do almost anything you ask him to do. Vickie Harlan is a very sweet lass. This little miss is the brain of our class. She was homecoming queen for '62, Vickie's friendship is always True Blue. Gene Heyka, can most often be found. In his '58 Chevy a drivin' around. Gene has his future, most carefully planned. And he says without doubt, he'll farm lots of land. Bob Munson was our homecoming king. He really liked football, but he hated to sing, Bob's a great guy, who'll be a true friend. If you give him a chance and his friendship you win. Ruth Ocobock, has plans for K. U. Her mind is made up, she knows what she'll do. She's planning on teaching or library work. Whatever she chooses, we know she won't shirk. Rodney Petersen will never settle down. He's all for a party or doin' the town. He's six foot tall, and a basketball star. With all his talent, this kid'll go far. Nancy Shulda, has her mind on Fort Hays, She's a very sweet girl with such winning ways. She's blue-eyed and blonde, and intelligent too. If you ever need help, just call Nancy Lou. MELTON MOTORS, Belleville, Kansas CLARENCE L. GILE AGENCY, Scandia, Kansas FERGUSON SERVICE, Belleville, Kansas Next comes Doug, who's a good looking guy. Who most of the girls look at and sigh, He's a real good student, who's exceptionally bright. You know without doubt, he'll rise to great height. Thanks Mr. Belk, for your help this year. Without it this wouldn't be done, that's clear. You've helped us and guided, and shown the way. Thanks, very much, is all we can say. Last, but not least, comes our friend and our guide. Through three years of high school, he's been by our side. Thanks, so much Ukens, for helping us through. We've made it at last, and we say, ''THANKS'7 to you. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF We, the Seniors of the City of Republic, County of Republic, being of sound mind and memory, hereby make, publish and declare this to be our last will and testament. Anyone not claiming their inheritance will be subject to court order. If there is any dispute over claims, the involved characters, if of sound mind and body, shall hereby be deprived of any inheritance. On the twenty-third day of March, 1962, we will the following to whom it may concern: Steven Elliott wills his way with girls to Ron Reinke. Janis Dunback wills her singing voice to Linda Thornton. Dennis Erkenbrack wills his ability to keep out of trouble to Paul Kath- rineberg. Nancy Shulda wills her ability to play the Clarinet to Alan McClure. Gene Heyka wills his safe driving ability to Donnie Rakestraw. Rodney Petersen wills his ability to pass tests and to get by with any- thing short of murder to Arlo Millen. To our teachers we leave them the hopes of more intelligent students, and fewer headaches. To all of our friends, enemies, and relation we leave many happy memo- ries of our bright intelligent faces. To our class sponsor we leave sweet, calm relaxing peace. Playing Miniature Golf t«' % • r •• • I • • • •{ • I • •• • I •  • tf« •!••• •(«]• | «  l • I • •. « • ( • «i.
