As they arrived at the old schoolhouse in the center of Republic, their first teacher met them at the door and very warmly invited them into their classroom. Six of the present seniors were in that class. They are: Roger Simms. Mike Charles. Coyt Noble. Arlene and Charlene Kathrineberg, and Darlene Hurley. Their first teacher was Miss Betty, now known as Mrs. Eldon Evert. The middle of their first term the school was condemned and they attended the rest of the first grade and all of the second in a small house on main street belonging to Mrs. Estie Allen. Before they knew it. they found themselves with a new teacher, Miss Forrell, now Mrs. Billy Tipton; a new grade, and a different building, the Old Legion Hall. That year a little bombshell by the name of LeRoy Rakestraw joined them. As the years went on and they progressed from grade to grade, classmates joined and left them. By the time they had reached the fourth grade they discovered themselves in a brand new school on the Southeast edge of Republic. Mrs. Tallent was their teacher that year and the Rahe twins joined them, then went back to the country the following year. A large disturbance was caused when an ornery little blonde arrived during the fifth grade. That was Virginia Jensen. The teacher during the fifth grade was Mrs. O'Halloran. The next year. Phil Reed arrived and Mrs. Huckeby was the teacher. Soon the students dis- covered themselves in their last two years of grade school and they were very excited about entering high school. The Rahe twins rejoined the class during the seventh grade and also a cute little gentleman by the name of Mack Hawley. Miss Anthony guided them very suc- cessfully through the seventh and eighth grades. In the fall of 1956 the class found themselves as Green Freshmen, with one more addi- tion to the class, Kenneth Fischer. However, it didn't take them long to learn the life of high school students. These last four years have been the happiest the class will ever remember, because of all the fun and troubles they have caused each other. The dignified seniors are now: Mack Hawley, Phil Reed, LeRoy Rakestraw, Kenneth Fischer, Roger Simms, Mike Charles, Butch Noble. Charlene and Arlene Kathrineberg, Virginia Jensen, Charlene and Charlotte Rahe, and Darlene Hurley. Signed, Written by; Virginia Jensen Charlene Rahe Class Prophecy Bridgot Monroe and Marilyn Bardot, the former Darlene Hurley and Virginia Jensen, who starred in the latest picture, Playmates of Dracula, were lounging around on the decks of their ships, the Merrimac and Monitor, when they were discussing their old friends. They had just been to the Arctic sun-bathing on the kon-tiki and touring the U. S. for a year visiting their former inmates of R. H. S. . cell-block No. 63. The following is a carbon copy of the letter written to Mr. Arnold Laman. warden of cell-block No. 63; R. H. S. May 27. 1970 77 Sunset Strip Callywood, Hal. Dear Warden Laman; It was nice??? to hear from you again. On your last fan card, you asked if we had heard from any of the other slaves being driven of the class of 1960. It just so happens we had the unfortunate opportunity to visit them on our last vacation. On December 25 , 2:00 A. M. , Apple Blossom time, we boarded the underground sub- way car for Las Vegas, New Hampshire. It was one of the latest inventions of the states, traveling at a speed of 2600 m. p. h. We reached Las Vegas a minute later. We hailed a cab and went to the famous Heartbreak Hotel” at the end of Lonely Street. As we went for our cocktail before dinner, who should we see, but none other than Butch Noble, now the world-wide racketeer. As we were chatting with Butch he said that he owned the hotel and ran several liquor stores in Kansas City on Fifth Street. Butch informed us that he was still courting Shirley Levendofsky, but was unable to marry, because of the lack of sufficient funds. Butch asked us to join him at dinner. During our meal, we were discussing our classmates, when Butch told us that Phil Reed was now the Mayor of San Francisco. We then decided to leave for San Francisco the following morning. We thanked Butch for the wonderful hospitality and rented a new space car, The Drag with a chauffeur and drug to San Francisco. We drove directly to Phil’s mansion, The Sun Liner, on skid-row As we were approaching his mansion, we were suddenly attacked by one of his beatnik sons — Mack the Knife. He then invited us into his Dad’s pad, and we had scotch on rocks. However, as I, Marilyn (Virginia) was sipping my drink, a sharp rock slit my lip and Phil and Bridgot (Darlene) hurriedly swept me off to the hospital in Phil’s helicopter. As we staggered into the hospital, the 1500 members of the emergency staff were awaiting our arrival. Who should be waiting at the head of the nurse’s staff, but Charlene Rahe. Dur- ing the excitement of my (Marilyn) operation and the strain of meeting her old classmates, Charlene accidently put Marilyn (Virginia) in the maternity ward. As I came out of the influence of alcohol and ether, I looked over into the next bed, and who should I see, but Charlene Novak, formerly Charlene Kathrineberg, holding her 4th set of triplets. Char- lene told me that Raymond and she and the family were living in the middle of Death Val- ley raising rattlesnakes. Charlene said that they had made their 1st million selling rattle- snakes to the President of the U. S. , now Marlin M. Hawley. We then decided to have a big blast, so all of us got together in the maternity ward in Charlene’s room. We called Butch collect at his famous Heartbreak Hotel and he flew out with a liquor store and we had a real ball. Butch mentioned that LeRoy was one of his right hand men now running a big syndicate in San Antonio. As we were passing the Alamo we noticed Cool Car No. 70' sitting at the entrance. Thinking we saw someone In it, we stopped to see if we could help. There on the ground lay LeRoy with Roger bending over him waiting for his last words. Roger, the mortician, had been run out of business by LeRoy, who buried people alive. They decided to have a shake down here at the Alamo and Le- Roy turned out the worst shot. (continued on next page) As we journeyed on through the Ozarks and into Kentucky, we ran out of gas. We decided to hike to the nearest farm about 29 miles. When we arrived we thought we recognized a hillbilly chopping wood. It turned out to be Kenny Fischer, who has finally settled down to the rugged hills and family life. His hobby is raising hogs. He insisted we dine with him and his family. Our meal consisted of sow belly soup. When we finally recovered from the meal we got our gas and journeyed back to the Drag. Ken- ny sent a complaint with us to the President, which was that the new-fangled jets were scaring his hogs so much that they were breaking down his white painted fences. When we stopped for lunch we bought a paper in which the headlines were that Mike Charles had replaced the one-time Van Doren as Professor at Columbia University. We decided to stop and see him on our way to Paris. We found his family living in very high society. He told us that Arlene was doing very well for herself as a dress designer at Macy's in New York City. We found Arlene hard at work when we arrived. She was working out with her husband, Ingemar Johannsen. ” We ate a very hearty meal with them and traveled on to the Capitol. As we stopped to issue Kenny's complaint to the President, Flyface Smaley, who should be posing as this famous man, but our old friend and classmate, Mack Hawley. He was enjoying a quiet day at his private Bur- lesque Show. He said that the Doctor had told him to participate in unstrenuous re- creation, because of his health, so he was following this advice. Seeing us again gave him a relapse of his romantic heart, so we joined him for a short period of three months, 120 days, and one hour. In October of '70, we boarded the ship, Bmismatic, foT a six month rest abroad before returning back to Callywood. As we decked at the shores of Nice, France, we were mobbed by our space men (fans) who were touring earth. Paris was our next stop in which we shopped for a small amount ($11,599) of gowns. As we were watching the gowns being modeled, we noticed a very classy gown of very sheer, cheap, rare, laven- dar mohair. We thought we'd purchase the article until we saw the model who was mo- deling it. She was Madame le Magnificent Chariot, the former Charlotte Rahe, now our big rival in Filmland U. S. A. Madame Chariot invited us to her chateau where we had egg-nog on rock and played croquet with ostrich legs. After seeing all our old classmates, we boarded a Space Conestoga Wagon for the Artie to sun-bathe and to the states to our careers and fans, who had become very lonely during our dismissal from the screen. We hope this letter finds you and your family in healthy, wealthy conditions. We will be expecting a visit from you soon. SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Sincerely yours, Bridgot and Marilyn Darlene and Virginia Written by, Darlene Hurley and Virginia Jensen Class Poem Mike Charles, an intelligent lad In very neat clothes you'll find him clad Musically minded and well inclined The gal that gets him has high hopes in mind. Kenny Fischer has his future planned With a real cute girl and plenty of land In football games, he played his best But things seemed different when it came to a test Then comes Mack, who's six foot two He never could find a thing to do He's a great big tease and a regular clown But it just takes Karen to make him calm down And then there’s the girl who never runs down She's all for a party or doin' the town Darlene was Queen for fifty-nine But she never could make it to school on time Virginia Jensen, the blond of the class Was always a very energetic young lass She was always right in there doing her best Whether in studying or being a pest Arlene Kathrineberg was usually jolly But when she got mad resistance was folly She was always up to something, whether good or bad When she enters Brown-Mackie, we’ll all be glad Charlene Kathrineberg will soon settle down To be the wife of a farmer just outside of town She was always happy and ready to go She'd do anything for you whether friend or foe And then comes Butch, our basketball boy His Ford and Shirley are his pride and joy He was all for a party or havin' a ball If you needed help, you knew who to call Charlene Rahe, a likeable thing Is good in studies and likes to sing She likes the boys and is fun to have around It's hard to guess in whose life she'll be found Charlotte Rahe has her mind on K-State We're sure that college won't be her fate In business or nursing satisfaction she'll find And a musical minor would surely be fine LeRoy Rakestraw was rather quiet Until he decided to start a small riot He never did take anything very serious Unless it was school - - it drove him delirious Philip Reed was our homecoming King He really liked football but hated to sing Next year comes the Navy and plenty of work That's something that Phil never would shirk The almighty lover with the great big smile Makes all girls time more worth while That's Roger Simms you all will know The boy that gets home to hear the cock 9 row V If it weren’t for Mr. Belk, his paper and pen This dear yearbook could never have been He guided and helped us all through the year He was faithful always, we never need fear Last but not least is our faithful guide All through our high school he's been by our side Laman's really been good to put up with our pranks And in appreciation we'd like to say THANKS Written by Charlotte Rahe V.
