FOREWORD The Annual Staff has in these few pages tried to capture some part of the work, the play, the seriousness and the gaiety which have made our high school days a magic time. We hope that as you turn through the pages of the Wildcat in the years to come, it will bring the joy of reminiscence to all who remember the Class of 57 • We would like to thank all the mer- chants for their cooperation in making this annual possible. The association we have had with them has been a real pleasure. To our teachers we say Thanks for your patience with the staff and for your attitude toward making our Wild- cat a success. DEDICATION With the realization that we are still very young in heart and experience; with the knowledge that with their counsel there is yet peace and love, and a deeper, calmer faith for us to seek: we gratefully dedicate this, the 1957 Wildcat, to our Parents. H. S., 196?« Here it is. May li ., 1967. We have all agreed that Republic has changed with the passage of time. First of all we meet Arlo, who is manager of the largest Atomic Chewing Gum Factory in Kansas. Arlo's motto is instead of the mouth moving the gum, the gum moves the mouth. Next to appear on the scene is Joan Sankey. Still single? Yes. What did you expect? She owns a kangroo ranch in Austrailia. She reports that business is really hoppinl Who's this? Oh yes, Carolyn Johnson. It's hard to recognize her because of her suntan that she got while deep sea fishing for the Star Kist Tuna Company. She also has half interest in the pink ping pong ball industry. Here comes Sarah. She has been doing real well in the bathtub industry. Just last week she put into mass production fur-lined tubs. These are for people who hate water. Last, but not least is Marjorie Brown. She is the president of P. T. A. in Walla Walla, Cuckoo monga. it stands for Pill Takers Association. We will now go to the Pawnee Dance Hall where Marilyn Presley and Elvis Monroe will entertain us with a wrestling match. This will be televised over R. H. S.— T.V., Channel 57 . SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Four short yesrs ago five shy students stepped over the threshold to begin their high school education. We are now proud to be the Seniors of 57. The sopnmore class iniated us and made us full-fledged high school members. Our class sponsor was Mrs. Zimmerly. The next year found us one more year from upperclassmen. We kept the same number of five in our class. Mr. O'Halloran was our sponsor. Upperclassmen, at last I This was a busy year. We had the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, the Junior-Senior Breakfast, and concess- ion stands at the football and basketball games. Our class sponsor was Mrs. Dooley. In 1956, we turned the proud SENIOR CLASS of 1957. We still had the lucky number of five in the class. Mr. Laman was the senior sponsor. West Side I.G.A., Republic, Kansas Bagley's Oil Co., Republic, Kansas SENIOR CLASS WILL We the seniors of 1957 according to an old custom, deem it wise, on our departure to follow tradition and leave the things that we, being seniors have out grown, to our underclassmen. We hope that you will appreciate the following and continue to hold them high and take good care of them. ArLo wills his pool table manners to Mike Charles. Marjorie wills her Monday morning absences to Sharon KcNitt. Sarah wills her ditch dodging ability to Kenneth Fischer. Joan wills her ways of skipping study halls to Virginia Jensen. Carolyn wills her bass horn to any one who can blow, we suggest John HUrley. In the above we left out a few: things that we certainly want to leave behind. These are: teachers, books, and any other things that means work. We realize that we, being seniors, can take nothing away from the school except the memories that will remain forever ours . Signed, sealed. Published as and for their last Will and Testament by The Senior Class of 1957 SENIOR CLASS POEM Marjorie Faye Brown Lives out east of town. But whenever theres fun, Marjories always around Sarah Jane is quite a girl She's always in a busy whirl Her future plans include nursing Sarah, have you been rehersing? Carolyn, better known as Carlee Is lots of fun you see When graduation rolls around We wonder where she'll be Joan Kay Sankey Our senior queen In many important places She'll be seen Arlo's a boy thats really neat He's a senior that can't be beat He's full of fun and fancy free Because, that's the way he wants to be.
