...,, In the fall of 1940, thirty-eight excited and ambitious Freshmen entered high school. he elected our class officers as follows: President Paul Larick Vice President Janice Iicheals Secretary Elizabeth Lepouttre Treasurer Dorothy Hopple ,Reporters Robert Neikirk Robert Shimer Our advisers were Kiss Erwin and Jr. Burkholder. We chose as our colors, old rose and silver. The most outstanding event of the Freshman year was the initiation held on Friday, September 15, What an unluckyfday for us! We were sorry to lose Lois Snyder and Paul Larick during the year but we welcomed Blanor Potts from Hope-well-Lbudon, and Orville Patterson from Toledo. Janice Michaels represented our school at Bowling Green on May 3rd in the district scholarship examination held there Then came vacation and the good old summer time. When September rolled around again, our class,now Sopho- mores, returned to school much smaller. During vacation Joane Veidaw, hardella Egbert, Iinnetta Dstep,Bldon 5herman,Charles Jarrett, Richard Luce,and Marion Taylor left our class.hobert Hopple entered in September and left later. This year our advisers are Hrs. vmith and lr. Jones. President Janice Iichaels Vice President Junior Kessler Secretary Elizabeth Lepouttre Treasurer Dorothy Hopple Reporters , Catherine Weiker Franklin Fruth Our class was well represented in basgetball this year with Ralph Grunden,Ray Zchelberry,Orville Patterson, Franklin Fruth, and Junior Kessler participating. We are also proud to have Zoe Hodges, a member of our class elected as one of the cheerleaders. Catherine Weiher and Norma Roope partic1pat6d'in the vo- cal contest. Catherine Weiker was able to survive the winner and represented our school in the county vocal contest. The Sophomore boys defeated the Juniors in theinterclass basketball tournament, but were defeated in the finals by the Seniors. ' ' Orville Patterson,Junior Kessler, hilliam Snyder, Howard Daniels, Duane Grimes, and Franklin Fruth represented us in the high school track team for the year 1942.
