Our boys were climbing the ladder in their sports ac- tivities. home had positions on the basketball team and in track, The girls interested in volley ball participated in the tournament held at heidelberg. The final day was well on its way. The exaas occupied much of our tile. Then the great day arrivel. Re were anxious but friyhtened as we awaited our reoort cards, out everyone was lucuy. Re had achieved another goal on our way to the top. Juniors We came back to school deliyited at the sight of seeing our classmates asain. hut some of our elasslates adain we sorrowfully realized that were missing again. Joan Huntsman, aargaret oogner,,and Trenton Jolenan had withdrawn. Wanda Fadley, Lands Lllsyre, Olive Mcdonnell, Lrma Jean namsey, Donna Luce, harl hopkins and uiruil Benner had moved to other schools. Ie cordially weleoned hon nltman to our class roll call, Le who was welcomed hiss Donnell. welcomed jr. Fee, a new teacher and basketball coach, made our advisor alon5 with Liss holland. Te also me helped initiate the new freshmen and we realized the helpless gosition they were in and sympathized with them. an I, N z X x5' NIH Htl jaws sq se tha-l ,sv Freshman Three Years ago a group of reluctant UFreshiesN entered Scipio-Republic High School, High school days had begun, We anxiously awaited the events which were to include us as high school students, All around us we could feel the Qlaring eyes of the upperclassmen staring at us. On September ld, before we left school-we received the startling orders from the dig- nified seniors. The long awaited for day had arrived. The next day was initiation day. The day arrived bright and sunny. All over the school grounds ungraciously decorated freshmen could fbe yfspotted. The girls wearing apparel consisted of knee-len5th overalls, long-sleeved -work shirts, bathing caps, long stockings and one shoe. 'Ke carried a candle and a box of matches. The boys wore a woman's dress, apron and sunhonnetg and were de- corously covered with powder and paint. Now that initiation day was over we really had to get down to work. Our advisers were Hr.Swihart and Miss Erwin, Ee elected the following officers: ' President Donna Luce Vice President Arthur Hall Secretary Doris Kramer Treasurer Doris nraner Reporter Rosalee Cooley We chose pink and green as our class colors throu5hout our high school years. Our motto was also chosen. It is: nNot at the top, but climbingf. Many events of scholastic importance occupied us. As it was the last year for girls' basketball a few girls en- rolled. Hany Joys joined basketball and track. Ke joined the T. F. n., F. L. n.and dlee dlub. le welcoued Joan Hunts- man as a classmate. Uhe came from nloomville. l He were joyous when the last day arrived. We had reached the first station on our trip to the top. Sophonores Early in the year of lO4O, we enrolled in the Sophomore Glass. Back again to another nine months of drudgery. Zut to the sorrow of us all we had lost some of our classmates over the summer vacation. Junior Cooley and Lloyd Gochenour had withdrawn and Glenn Villlqns was situated at another school. At the sane time we wolaorcd Trenton dolenan and Dick no rn an . Our adviggrs were Miss Rolland and C. P. Cole this year. We elected the followinj officers.
