Industrial Arts The rndustrral arts department ofRepub11c Htgh School deals wrth three types of shop classes they are shop drawrng I and arts and crafts All three are un der the able and competent drrectron of Mr Laantnen The shop classes are offered rn grades '1 through 10 In these classes the students learn how to handle the srmple tools whrch every man uses at some trme dunng hrs lrfe as well as the more complrcated and dangerous power tools He also learns the basrc fundamentals of the carpenter s trace The students construct many projects rangrng from the srmple doorstop to the more complr cated boat as shown rn the above prcture fundamentals and chvrsrom that that are essentral rn achrevmg the knowledge of archrtectural drawrng are taught The students also draw sectrons of machrnes as well as gears and cams and sheet metal layout They also study both the hrgh and low level lettenng Arts and crafts 18 studred by the boys rn the 11th and 12th grades It rs rn IIS rnrtral year The boys rn the class do vanous handlcraft pro1ects such as leather work carvrng copper toolrng and plaster moldrng They also plan to expand rnto the freld of archrtectural drawrng We are proud of our rndustnal arts program.
