This year the junior and senior girls started a Future Ho e- makers of America Club. The club met the first Wednesday of every month during the last period of the day. The meetings began with roll call. The roll call was followed by a business discussion which included talking about projects. Next was the program which was followed by lunch and games. The girls feel that membership in this group has been very useful, because someday they will be- long to clubs and they won't be afraid to do their part. The F. H. A. has had three projects during the past year. Everyone brought in two gifts and wrapped them for the children at the Ch1ldren's Home in Waverly. A large variety of gifts were brought in. These were put into a big box and shipped to Waverly. On December 19, 1953, the club girls held a Christmas Formal Dance. This dance was considered one of the big events of the year by the club members. The next project that the club decided upon was a Food Fair. This was held March 12, l95M- The fair was a big success and the proceeds went toward the purchase of a food freezer for the Homemaking Department. Page sponsored by F. H. A. If a person were to go down to the kitchen they would find our three cooks. From left to right they are Mrs.Bott1eson, Mrs. Kleve, and Mrs. Block. In the fall 19h1 Mrs. Block helped organize our lunch ro am Soon after, Mrs Kleve came P SP f - and in 19hh Mrs. Bottleson joined the cooks. About 230 students eat these nourishing noon meals. The largest number of students fed at a single meal this year was 25h. Much equipment has been added to make a modern kitchen and soon there will be enough Hemolite dishes,1ndiv1dual plates and steel ware for everyone. Miss Engstrom, our very efficient school secretary, has become a very necessary person around the school. One is likely to find her doing almost any task, but the major- ity of the time a person can find her in the office busily typ1ng,tak1ng telephone calls, and doing the many other jobs so important to a smooth run- ning institution. Ver Each day an average of 232 students ride to and from school on the bus. Five buses have been provided to haul the students. The drivers are walt Attig,Kenneth Harris, Guy Ballord, Charles Hinkley, and Henry Klassie. Pbrsons We are very thankful to have Mr.Harr1s, whose job it is to go around cleaning up after us stu- dents. Mr. Harris has been custodian of Renwick School for three years. If you need something like a broom, ham er and nails the first place to go is to the boiler room to find Mr. Harris. In the winter we students would come to a cold school if Mr. Harris wasn't here early in the morning to warm it up for us. Page sponsored by WHYTE AND SON, Goldfield, Iowa
