The three-act melo- drama of the Gay Nineties fea- tured music from that time era. The plot of the play involved an unscrupulous villain (played by Dave Henneberry), who tried to take advantage of two poor, but honest, young people (Sue Wolter and Kevin Mulder). This three act comedy shows the trials of eleven train pas- sengers stranded at a run-down wayside railroad station because of a derailment. Problems that these people faced included loud snoring, stolen pearls, a bomb threat, and a briefcase full of mice. This play, under the direction of Ann Martinson, was pre- sented in one matinee and two evening performances. 1. Passengers of the train pass their time playing games. 2. To those who are workers, the answer may be it is more work than play. These library workers are put to the task of keeping the library in top condition by the librarian, Mrs. Miller. This may include the duties of putting books away, stamping books, re- pairing covers, and dusting shelves. Occasionally the crea- tive talents of these junior librar- ians are tapped in making bulle- tin boards. 1. Kim Dolan searches for the right file card. 2. According to the Dewey Decimal System, Loren Butenhoff puts library books away. 3. Ready or not. I'm next, thinks Tom Schemel before giving his declam piece. 4. Student Councils Under the leadership of the student councils, programs such as Homecoming, foreign ex- change, the student lounge, dances, and Student of the Month, have become a success at RHS. Without the voice of stu- dent opinion through this coun- cil, the needs of the programs may have never been met. Every member of both student councils had, along with his le- gislative duties, the job of mak- ing change for the candy ma- chine in the student lounge. JR. Ren-Hi Record For the first time in the recent histroy of RHS, action pictures made their debut in the school newspaper, The Ren-Hi Record. This, along with the interesting and stimulating article by the writers, sent the ratings of the paper to all time highs. Credit for the success of this monthly tabloid can be attri- buted to a fine staff including editors Char Schmidt and Karen Hanson, all the newswriters of RHS, and faculty advisor Miss Johnson. 1. Pam Standfuss and Debbie Bach de- vote their time to doing paste-up on the annual. 2. Gail Swartz prepares to push the button to mimeograph the Ren-Hi Record. 3. Hanson 20 Grin If You’ve Got One With the goal of making the 1975 Annual bigger and better' the yearbook staff compiled pictures and stories all of the year. Along with adding four pages to the length of the book, the staff also had the cover designed by a RHS student, Linda Schemel. In a quest to have a better book, the editors spent many hours reading and rereading the pages before they were sent to be published to insure that even the smallest mistake would be caught. This year's annual staff found Debbie Bach in charge as editor-in-chief, Pam Standfuss as her as- sistant, Rod Hebrink as business manager, and Lon- nie Link and Pat Schroeder as junior editors. Many other students helped with the production of the book. Mr. Bodurtha took the pictures for the book and was the advisor. ANNUAL First Row: (Left To Right) J. Sietsema, D. Brink, M. Eekhoff, N. This year could hardly be called an ordin- ary one for the girls in the Future Home- makers of America. These FHA'ers under the advisership of a past FHA National Pre- sident, Miss Christiansen, became some of the most active people at RHS. When they were not busy with their Halloween party for the pre-school children, door decorating contest at Christmas time, or caroling at the Renvilla Home, they were planning for their joint banquet with the FFA. The officers consisted of Sue Wolter, pre- sident; Cathy Schmidt, vice-president; Lon- nie Link, secretary; Karen Hanson, trea- surer; Pat Schroeder, parlimentarian; Cheryl Bratsch, historian; and Carol Agre, song leader. 1. Since the advisors, Mr. Wa- cholz and Mr. Fischer, have stressed involvement within and outside the FFA as a key to suc- cess, projects such as the Camp Courage Corn Drive and the fruit sales have been well re- ceived. 1. Leaving these words 54 sen- iors finished 12 years of study at RHS. Ruth Reetz and Rod He- brink gave commencement ad- dresses reviewing their years in school and giving an insight into their outlook for the future. The class flower was the white carnation, tipped in red and the class colors were red and silver. Cathy Hanson, Lonnie Link, Frank Fischer, and Doug Carnes were chosen by the Senior Class as the Junior Honor Guards. SENIOR CLASS First Row: (Left To Right) C. Agre, D. Ander- son, D. Bach, J. Mavbe they just found out that Cathy Schmidt and Reed Nelson are their class attendents and escorts. Also it could be that Cain is playing at the Home- coming dance. Also keeping them busy are their money making projects. The concession stands and the magazine sale in which they earned $1,800 for the class trea- sury. But is it for the better or worse?! Some say it's worse, referring to biology, American history, and driver s ed. The better part is being in Sr. High clubs, band, chorus and dances. It is also a change from oldest back to youngest again. There are a lot of firsts that go with the change such as having Homecoming attendents, a wide choice of classes, and having some classes with the upper classmen. Out of the 18 cheerleaders, 8 of them come from the Sophomore Class. The guys are also very active in B-squad and varsity sports. The class officers are: President, Bill Olspn; Vice- President, Mike Mulder; Secretary, Lon Thompson; and Treasurer, Robyn Dolan. 68 Deb Mehrhoff Julie Miller Lynn Mulder Mike Mulder Jim Negen Kay Nelson Bill Olson Jon Raske Tim Raske Todd Raske Linda Reetz JanelleSietsema Diane Smith Phil Snartland Joan Strootman Lon Thompson Sherry Vanslette Dan Wohlman 1. After running around like frightened mice finding their homeroom surely was nice. Then they started on their way and for the rest of the time it was a pretty good day. Many activities would come this year, in which different peo- ple would see and hear. Home- coming came and they gained their fame. The 7th grade skit was a very big hit. During the next day in the parade, their In- dian and Bulldog float was dis- played. The funniest investigation was the FHA'ers initiation. They sur- vived the tragic moments and are now on the FHA enrollment.
