FOOTBALL This year's football team, tough, young and inexperienced, provided an exciting season, while improving steadily each game. Bob Hoffman, a senior, made the All- conference team and Erv Ahrenholz was Honorable Mention. Under the direction of new coaches Jarvis Anderson, Dale Kongslie, and Lorry Gunhus, the Indians played an exciting brand of football with a new offense. The squad played a total of eight games, seven conference and one non-conference. Maynard was a new team added to the schedule this year. Although plagued by injuries and sickness throughout the season, the team never gave up, as they proved by scoring a touchdown in the final seconds of the last game. The Indian's conference record was 11 wins against 3 losses. Two non-conference games were also played; one with Montevideo which resulted in a thrilling game won by Montevideo in an over-time and the other with Olivia won by Olivia 52-50. On March 6 Renville started its district play by winning over Norwood at Hutchinson. In the semi-final game the Indians lost to Danube by a score of 55-46.
