MINNESOTA CONTENTS: I ADMINISTRATION II SENIORS III UNDERCLASSMEN IV ORGANIZATIONS V SPORTS VI FEATURES Since 1951 Renville High School has been privileged to have Mr. Bendixas a teacher. In addition to teaching in the field of science, he has assisted in sports at the junior high level, has been summer athletic director, and has been the drivers' training instructor. In 1957 he attended the Summer Science Institute at the University of South Dakota, under a stipend from the National Science Foundation. This past summer he was selected as one of twenty traveling science teachers in a seven- state area to take three months of intensive training in science and mathematics at Michigan State University under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation. Renville School granted him a year's leave of absence to participate in this program. We are very proud to have had this man as a teacher. We are equally proud to share him with the many students he now instructs. WE, THE CLASS OF ’60, respectfully dedicate our annual to Mr. Eugene Bendix. I STUDENTI PRINCIPAL . She left Renville for Minneapolis the morning of June 16, 1959. From Minneapolis she and many other summer exchange students left for New York where they boarded the ship S. S. Zuiderkruis. This ship carried 750 American students to their various destinations in Europe. Sandy spent her first month on a 180-acre farm on the island of Langeland in Denmark. Her first family, the Nielsens, are very much like any American family. Living near the sea, she and her sister often went swimming in the ocean. Her second family lived in Odense, one of the larger cities in Denmark. She spent several weeks there doing a lot of sightseeing and learning much. During all of her travels she had a chance to see the White Cliffs of Dover; LeHavre, France; Rotterdam, Copenhagen; and in this country. New York and Washington, D. C. Renville High School and the citizens of Renville are very proud of Sandy. She has done a wonderful job of representing our way of life to these people across the ocean. 16 UNDERCLASSMEN CLASS OF 1961 18 Kenneth Abbas Larry Agre Norma Anderson George Bailey Morris Bakker Marvin Breitkreutz Barbara Brettin Barbara Decknatel Mary DeGree David Dunwell Ardus Engstrom Darla Feldman Janet Freiborg Judy Grund Kathy Habben Charles Haen Dianne Hall Carol Hinneberg Jerome Jacobs Judy Johnson La Vaune Kottom Loma Lee Delight Licklider Beverly Mether Carol Mork Ronald Morris Russell Morris Jenean Nelson Monroe Paradee Jeanette Preuss Leland Raske Herbert Rose Don Schroeder Jerry Steinkamp Harvey Sunvold Gilbert Thostenson Earl Waller Marlene Westby Sharon Wolf Carol Wulf David Yungk NOT PICTURED Bonnie Brink Karen Feldman Donald Ridl Stanley Santjer CLASS OF 1962 Larry Aalderks Ervin Ahrenholz John Anderson Ila Jean Berends Ardus Bonde Keith Bratsch Gerald Brettin Roger Brink Janet Dahl Lois DeGree Tom Dimberger Robert Dolan Rosaline Grussing Marlys Hanson Curtiss Haroldson Paulette Herrman Robert Hoffman Leanna Jacobs Gail Kashmark Gary Keehl Mary Lentz Linda Lien Robert Miller Jeanette Millerbernd Ramona Muetzel Janice Mulder Sharon Peterson Shirley Renstrom Paul Rosenbaum Elroy Santier LaVaun Stomberg Charlotte Strey Arlene Wohlman James Zaske NOT PICTURED Dean Grafenstein Kathy Kodet Charles Strefelder 19 CLASS OF 1963 Gloria Abbas Alan Ahrenholz David Ahrens Kenneth Anderson Gary Beckendorf Robert Benson Shirley Benson Arlene Breitkreutz Marlene Bruns Phyllis Derksen John Doone Elaine Greenfield Susan Grand Duane Grassing El wood Gummert Bonnie Hassell Mike Herzig Allen Jacobs Joanne Jacobs Joan Johnson Mary Johnson Art Karnes Betty Karsten Mary Kottom Sandra Mork Margaret Mulder Dennis Nester Sheryl Ockwig Marvin Peters Lee Sietsema Dale Waller Richard Wertish Karen Wulf Delite Zabel Lee Ann Zaske Not Pictured Terry Solberg 20 CLASS OF 1964 James Aalderks Stanley Abbas Janet Ahrens David Barber Gary Barber Irita Barber Stanley Breitkreutz Maxine Bruns Earl Butenhoff Arlys Cole Richard DeGree Sandra DeGroat Carol Dobmeier Tommy Dolan Barbara Duininck Joanne Dunwell Jim Emerson Robert Enestvedt Eugene Engstrom Marlene Feigum Betty Feldman David Fredrickson Scott Grabow Daniel Hall Donald Henning Kathy Hertling David Hoffman Larry Jacobs Mellody Karnes Roger Kortgard Ardyce Kottom Cheryl Krogman Gordon Larson Dixie Lee Tom Licklider Bill Lobnitz Judy Mapes Donna Muldei Ronald Mulder Judy Ockwig Norma Peterson Donald Piehl Charles Pierce LouAnn Raske Adrian Sandberg Gary Santjer Alan Schneiderman Betty Schroeder Bill Sietsema Nancy Sorenson Jerry Sunvold Judy Ulrickson Marilyn Vanden Einde Karen Watson Ellen Wenzel Leonard Wohlman Bonnie Wulf Lynn Wulf NOT PICTURED: Mike Millerbemd Curtis Munsch LeRoy Penke Wayne Schemel CLASS OF 1965 Joan Aalderks Galen Abbas Gary Anderson Karen Anderson James Bakker Ronald Bensch Lois Benson Mike Berends Frank Borgeson Brian Bottge Bob Brettin Kathleen Cavett Bill DeGree Richard Dey Mike Duininck Judy Enestvedt Bruce Frank Martha Grabow Kermit Grafenstein Margaret Gummert Mike Haen Glen Harms Marilyn Hinneberg Lyle Jacobs Harold Johnson Kenneth Johnson Bill Kashmark Fred Kodet Linda Kottom Marcy Lee David Loskota Donna Martin Robert Mulder David Nantke Linda Nelson Karen Rhodes Kathryn Rakke Susan Ruter Wayne Schneider Nancy Smith Sarah Smith Randy Thostenson Anne Wahl Grace Weigelt Kenneth Wenzel Norman Westby David White Ina Wohlman Kathleen Wolf Peggy Wolf Jackie Youngs Sheryl Ziegelman 22 NOT PICTURED: Karen Cole Harlan Peters EIGHTH GRADE President: Janet Ahrens; Vice-President: Bill Sietsema; Secretary: Judy Mapes; Treasurer: Bill Lobnitz. In JWemoriam THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD JOHN WALLER The people of Renville and the students of Renville High School were deeply saddened by the sudden death of a member of the 1959 graduating class, John Waller. We, the Class of 1960, wish to devote this page of our annual to his memory. Although we did not know him as well as his own class, yet we knew him to be a good student, a true friend, and a very promising young man. He is sadly missed by not only his family but by all who knew him. 24 ORGANIZATIONS ROW 1: Diane Hall, Ruth Tolzman, Kay Kottum, Barbara Ranney, VerJean Wohlman, Jackie Dolan, Carol Rutz, Lois DeGree, Sharon Bratsch, Sharon Bailey, Erma Lobnitz, Sandy Bottge, Kathy Haen, Barbara Kashmark, Sandy Modderman, Janet Freiborg. The Indians finished their season one of the six undefeated teams in the state winning 20 straight games. They played two college preliminary games against Keewatin and Janesville and won them both. Janesville had up to that point been un- defeated also. This scoreboard was posted in Randy's Cafe. The four Team of the Week awards were won by center Jerome Jacobs. He was chosen as a member of the WCCO Prep Parade team four weeks in a row. After winning their first tourney tilt 84-45 against Central High School, the Indians had a bad night against Stewart. However they won by a slim 58-52 margin. Then playing against Danube in the semi-finals they lost their only game of the year--the score was 70-55. Danube then went on to face Olivia for the District 12 Championship game. 84 RLNViLLi. 45 central 09 srtwAkr ere 6V HECTOR 91 DANUBt 6S HUTCHINSON «3 OLIVIA 7 .SILVER LAKl — 38 BlRU ISLAND 39 SACRED HEART 73 BUFFALO l AKL 50 glencoc ' jl COSMOS . ..
