Commander David H. Thomas was horn june 8, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity. Commander Thomas entered the Naval Reserve in july of 1944 and attended recruit training at Great Lakes in 1946. He received his commission as Ensign from Officer Candidate School on November 21, 1951. He served aboard USS KEARSARGE CCVA-335 and was Operations Officer aboard USS LEWIS QDE-5355. Commander Thomas commanded USS WANDAWK CATA- 204J. After attending the U. S. Navy Post Graduate School at Monterey, California, Commander Thomas acted as Damage Control Assistant for USS RANGER CCVA-615. He has also had two shore duty billets: NAS Dallas, Texas and COMNAVAIRPAC, NAS NORIS, San Diego, California. Commander Thomas became Executive Officer of USS RENVILLE in january 1966.
