'Y if .m X., iv V:'f U 7 RENVILLE arrived in Danang Harbor at the first of September and relieved USS CAVALIER CAPA-373 of duties as Station Ship, Danang. As station ship We provided boat control and communica- tions facilities as Well as acting as a floating hotel for more than 600 enlisted men and officers who ate and slept aboard for six Weeks. Liberty, which was not allowed in Danang, was replaced by department beach parties at Monkey Mountain Beach. The USO sent entertainers to RENVILLE including a roller- skating team, a female singer, and a ventriloquist. We contributed lumber from our holds to the people of the Republic of Vietnam for use in building homes and schools, and we held a beard-groW- ing contest.
