Although there were some rough spots during the year, for the most part, the senior class has been fantastic. We started the year out well with a bake sale at the Open House. We held a Dime-A- Scoop Dinner in December, and also spon- sored a dance. Homecoming was a real success, every class having plenty of spirit, but the seniors led the way. The dance was well attended, with the emphasis placed on the alumni. Highlights of the senior year were Senior Ball and Senior Party, and of course, the Com- mencement Exercises. I would like to wish the class of '76 the best of luck in the future, whatever you do. ,-,,4uff 7 ,,.,. v f 7 KM? 'fr . ,,,. WW Sincerely, . It's a small world nowadays. From the very begin- ning of my stay here in Renton, I have noticed how nice and friendly people are in this country. In Sweden the way of living seems to be more formal. It's marvelous to see how well we get along even though our ways of living in our home countries are so di ferent. As an exchange student I'm so happy to have this opportunity to attend Renton High School. It has been a great experience for me meeting all the students from this country and from other foreign countries. My ear in Renton is something I'll never forget. It has given me a good view on how the American people live and I've learned the lan- guage. I'm so grateful to my family Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hilmo and to the teachers and students in Renton High School. Thanks to all of you for your kindness and consideration. Christine Erickson Sweden . -.., H Even as a child I have heardof stories about a land on the other side of our world, it was called America. And as the story goes, it was full of honey. To me it meant excitement. Fun in short good times. The day I came I started looking for it. I found it and I found something more. This may sound a bit corny but I realized how I love my family. Before I left, I said that I'd be glad to get away from my brother, yet I miss him. Also, I've learned to under- stand myself better and this way I understand others, IOO. My year in Renton has been lovely. You have taken me in, treated me as one of you, shared with me our country, your way of life, and yourselves. At this point, I would like to thank the Berganios. They have been very warm and kind. When I am old and about to die, I will think back to these days and say a little prayer for Renton High. Teng Ocson Philippines .. iif A 'M R It will be very difficult for me to forget all these, experiences, shared with you. I think what it is to be a foreign exchange student, is spending a year, with a host country, host family, among all you, nice people, is an experience very exciting, beauti- ful and important for any young person,. Althou h, in the beginning it is a little hard to share with people with different customs, styles and language. But I think what with your help, anybod is able to learn anything. I know this very welll because I have received your help. I really believe, RHS is a very good community for learning, because they are the people for any foreign student. Its teachers and students are ex- cellent. For these reasons, RHS will be always be to me the place most important and lovel place E1 Akmerica therefore perhaps some day I win come ac . Finally, I just want to thank everyone, teachers, students and especially to my American family, the Thorsens. Pedro A. Medina Chile my The Foreign Exchange Club has been very busy this year. Their first activity was a recep- tion for our four new exchange students. They had a ski swap which was a big success for raising money. Also, they sponsored a P.T.S.A. Dance. I came here last January and was a Senior here. I graduated in June and then I came back for the first semester. I can truthfully say that my stay at Renton High School has been a rewarding experience which I know I will never forget. I have made many different friends here and this will be the hardest thing to face when I leave here this January, leaving my new friends. Australia is quite different from America in a number of ways, yet very similar in a lot of respects, such as language, money, and color of skin. Something that is found in Australia that is most evident over here, and I suppose is everywhere is friendship. I wish the best for everyone here and if you are ever in Australia, make sure you look me up. Rick Perrin Australia After traveling about 24 hours from Hamburg, German to Detroit, Mich. and to San Francisco, Cal, I arrivedyin Seattle on August 18th and it was rain- ing. That's what the weather is like in Seattle, my American family told me at the air ort. I was very excited about everything because I knew I would get to know a whole new life and culture, especially school life, because I've heard that this is the main part inthe life of American kids. Maybe that's not the main part for everybody, but it is for those students who are very involved in school and who turn out for sport teams or other activities. So I turned out for swimming and I made alot of friends on the team. I really enjoyed it and I want to say Thank-you to all the girls in the team, who were so nice to me. But not only to the girls swim team, but to all my other friends I made this year. l'm happy to know what American schools are like and it's very different from German schools, therefore, I can't say which school system I like better, but I can say that Renton High School helped me to enjoy my American Year and I was happy to be in Seattle, even if it rains a lot. Spirit and teamwork were the key words that janet Belmondo's Sophomore Council followed this year. With the help of Vice- Representative Debbie Gardin, and Secretary Karen Aliment, they started off the year with a carwash. The money that they raised helped buy their SUPER 78 T-Shirts. During Home- coming week, the busy Sophies decorated their hallway, sold kazoos, and held a clothing drive. For Halloween they had a Guess the Weight of the Great Pumpkin Contest. With energy and determination the Sophomores had a very successful year. mi .lu- ' 'li hr' 5 4 l ' joe Motorcycle cramming for a test. ktim., Typical Frosh utilizing studyhall time. 425 f . , 4 , 1' ' VVV sf, 6 gg- ws ra if A +A ft- .S YQ' if A ., -.' , I 'A i V A My ZAA ra A ' A 4 .6 lv f' 1' Ml I l fl i .,,, , My. , if j j lui 45 f X 1. It was a busy year as the class of '79 had many activities X like a gum-guess, button sale, candy sale, and a spring dance, plus decorating a hall for Homecoming. ln addition to making this year a great one for R.H.S. and the Freshmen class, they have set a standard to follow. i 2 Sandy Blyth, Freshman Representative. The 1975-76 Girl's Drill Team has been striving very hard to be good. They practice their routines every morning be- fore school and during first period. During the basketball season, along with selling chocolate candy bars, they enter- tained everyone during halftime at two home games. In the competitive nature, they have participated in two parades, and competed in the state conference held in Wenatchee. In order to raise money for these activities, they sponsored many money making projects. They held a car wash, ran a booth in the annual FBLA carnival, and during the winter they sponsored a PTA dance. These girls have put in hours of hard work to represent Renton at its finest, and they de- serve much credit. in G. February 10-17, the week that was set up for the celebration. The week began with the RHS Pep Club presenting a Bicentennial flag to the SBA. A'Capella Choir sang with both faculty and stu- dents in attendance. Later that day, Foreign Exchange presented a skit, Swing Choir sang, and the winners of the look-alike contest were announced at a special assembly: Abraham Lincoln-Robert Vogel, Ben Franklin-Karen Am- mons, Betsy Ross-Renee Courage. A multi-ethnic food fair, held in the home- ec rooms, was a great success. The week was capped by Renton's Bicentennial lublilee. Winners of the Mr. Diamond- Miss jubilee contest were Misty Schaf- fert of Renton High, and Arthur Hu of Lindbergh. Although only one week was set aside at RHS, activities will take place all year long. Follow the leader.
