The foreign language depart- ment provides an opportunity for elective studies in six languages: French, German, Italian, Latin, Spanish, and Russian. Students taking these languages are taught to speak, read, write, and most of all to comprehend the lan- guage. Listening and speaking experiences are gained through the use of the language lab. Each student is assigned to a counselor to whom he may go to for help and guidance in matters pertaining to his school life. One of the responsi- bilities of the counselor is to assist the student in under- standing himself, vocationally and educationally-wise. They must also work with teachers and parents in developing a better understanding of students. Counseling requires study in social and biological sciences, and humanities. Fine or creative art subjects are creative art, advanced art, and commercial art. The student learns to express his ideas by means of drawing and creating.
