These goals are achieved through active participation in the subdivided areas of this department: band, orchestra, and choir, each having various preparatory classes. These courses are all organized on an ability basis, rather than a grade level. In this way the student can gain more by playing or singing in a group where the other students are nearly the same ability ievel. iii The science department provides information about the my world around us in order that people may live in it more .li successfully. For the technical student it hopes to develop a number sense in connection with some basic laws of f nature, anticipating their use of these to design things which will raise our standard of living. For the curious, it will guide him in the ways of scientific method, that he may win new knowledge from nature.
