GREG SHORT DAVID ALLEN NICK SCHEUCH Vice-President President Secretary STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is an organization of student leaders elected by each roll room to serve as their official representatives in all matters concerning the entire school. ln this way the student has an opportunity to participate in school government, management, and control of problems relating to student welfare. The aims of the Student Council are to promote greater student participation in school activities, study problems of finance, elections and assemblies through student committees, strengthen school-community relations, stimulate and develop school spirit, school loyalty and school pride, and to promote harmonious relations between students and teachers and among students themselves. The Council meets every two weeks with special meetings called when neces- sary. At these meetings the representatives are given a chance to express them- selves and to decide on all the issues that come before them. Among the activities and proiects the Student Council has supported are: sponsored representatives to Student Council Conferences, maintained a plaque award system, brought a foreign exchange student to Renton, sponsored assemb- lies, explaining the Council to the school, Youth-of-the-Month program, advertising of school events, and improvement of sportsmanship. This year's Council has been under the leadership of David Allen, president. Assisting him were Greg Short, vice president, and Nick Scheuch, secretary. The group is advised by our vice principal, Mr. Karl J. Weber.
