K IIM WHITE IOHN THARP DOLORES LEVER Vice-President P 'd rcsi cnt Secretary STUDENT COUNCIL Under the capable leadership of John Thirp our Student B l P l . , ocy resicont, Renton l'ligh's Student Council has completed another successful year. lt is an organization of student leaders, elected by each roll room to represent them at council meetings, In this way the student has an opportunity to participate in school govern- ment, management, and control of problems relating to student welfare, The aims of the organization are to promote greater student participation in school activities, study prob' lems of finance, elections, and assemblies through student committeesg serve as the students' organization to improve conditions of the schoolg and stimulate and develop school spirit, school loyalty and school pride. Meetings are held once every other week with special meetings called when necessary, The representatives th h ' ' Oroug ly discuss all problems before deciding the issues that come before them. Among the activities and projects that have been supported or promoted this year are sponsored representa-V tives to student council conferencesg advertising of school eventsg traffic-safety conferenceg expanded the I paque systemg youth of the month programg sponsored assembliesg improvement of sportsmanshipg cheerleader conferenceg purchased new uniforms for the pep bandg appropriated S650 to bring a foreign student to Renton High next year, and sent representatives to the Pacific Slope Press Conference. Aiding the president this year were Jim White, vice-president, and Dolores Lever, secretary. The group is under the guidance of our vice-principal, Mr. Karl Weber.

MARIl.EE ROBERTSON BATTELLO SANDRA LANCLAND Vice-President President Secretary GIRLS' CLUB With the supervision of Mrs, Mehus, our adviser, this year has been one of progress for Renton High Girls' Club. Through the work of the Cabinet, and leadership of the officers the club has developed into a compact unit, working for the betterment of the girls and the school. The officers for the l954-55 school term are Pat Battello, President, Marilee Robertson, Vice-Presideritg and Sandra Langland, Secretary, A few of the club's numerous activities this year were the Kiwanis Halloween Dance, Tolo WL-ek, Mothers' Tea, co-sponsorship of the College Conference and Careers Day with the Boys' Club, Deco-Day la new attrac- tionl, and one general meeting a month directed towards education, guidance, and entertainment. The Girls' Club Cabinet has six committees and chairmen, They are: Standards, Mary Moss, Bulletin Board, Joan Rolston, Regulatnon, Joan Downs, Friendship, Gladys Acree, Program, Barbara l-lelmang and Publicirf ty, Judith Hird. The first activity of the Cabinet was the Puget Sound Girls' Club Conference, which was held at Auburn. The new look for the Cabinet was the red and white ties for regulation day.
