WARNER TALSO BARBARA HAUGAN BARBARA STOKES Vice-President President SECVETHYY BOARD OF l Under the capable leadership of our president, Barbara l-laugan, Renton l-ligh s student governing body, the Board of Control, has completed another successful year. It is an or ganization of student leaders, elected by each roll room to represent them at board meet ings. In this way the student has an opportunity to participate in school government man agement, and control of problems relating to student welfare. The aims of the board are to promote greater student participation in school activities study problems of finance, elections, and assemblies through student committees serve as the students organization to improve conditions of the schoolg and stimulate and develop school spirit, school loyalty and school pride. The board meets once every other week. Special meetings are held when necessary The representatives thoroughly discuss all problems before deciding the issues that come before them. Among the activities and projects that have been supported or promoted this year are sponsored representatives to student council conferences: campus and building clean up campaign, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter assemblies: advertising of school events traffic-safety conferencel contest for new yells: expanded the plaque system youth of the-month programg Homecoming: youth leadership contest: improvement of sportsman ship: and a cheer leader conference. Aiding Barbara this year were Warner Talso, viceapresident, and Barbara Stokes sec retary. The group is under the guidance of our vice-principal, lvlr, Karl Weber.

FLORENCE N IGHTINGALE Vice-President Girfs' Cfulv Develops Clzaracfer Girls' Club, under the supervision of Mrs, lvlehus, is an organization to which every girl in school belongs. The officers of '53-'54 were Donna Wallace, president, Florence Nightingale, vice-presidentg and Mollie Church, secretary. Among the many things sponsored by Girls' Club this year were the Kiwanis Halloween Dance, Courtesy Week followed by the annual tolo dance, the Mothers' Tea, and all the meetings throughout the year, Meetings which the Senior High girls attend are held at various times during the year for the purpose of helping with problems which may come up at the time. Branches of the Girls' Club include Bulletin Board Committee, Program Committee, Regulation Committee, which elects a Girl-of-the-Month each monthg and a senior Girl-of-the-Year g Standards Committee, Pub- licity Committee, and Friendship Club. Make Way for flze Boys' Club Under the direction of Mr, Luft, the Senior High boys are organized into the Senior High Boys, Club for the purpose of unifying the services that boys can render the school. Some of their biggest duties are: Planning club meetings and programs, assisting character training through bulletin announcements, and checking the bulletin boarrds. Character development, ethics, and citizenship train- ing form the core around which club meetings are built. Each home room has a representative which meets with and aids the executive board in carrying out these duties. This year the two main activities of the Boys' Club were Careers Day and Dads' Night. Hats off to the three fellows below, for making these activities and the Boys' Club a success this year.
