Besides the contestants there were B50 people who enjoyed this festival all day. - Renton is proud ot the tact that every one of their Contestants placed in one of the top three divisions. A fitting climax to the day was the evening program at which there was standing room only. ln this program a string orchestra of 51 pieces, a band of 80 pieces, and a chorus of 92 pieces participated. Besides this, three ot the most outstanding numbers ot the contest were given. Unique is the word for the Senior Ball held on December l, l944. For one thing, Gordie Green demon- strated how his orchestra could sit inside a Snow Ball and still maintain his reputation for solid not frozen music. Old Man North Wind blew flakes to us abundantly enough for us to gather them and mold them into in- spiring arrangements of snow splendor. Entering through an igloo you saw in the center of the floor, a plump, eight foot, jolly snow man with coal black buttons and the jauntiest hat and cane. Surrounding this in various corners were the orchestra in a snow cave, a cluster of fir trees, a snow frozen love seat and along the west wall a clever mural depicting northern life humorously. These scenes were made by a committee headed by Dick Drovetto and they should be complimented for their efforts. cmdcvz pecan Under the light of a Desert Moon the luniors of 45 held their annual Iunior Prom, April 6, in the high school gymnasium. Palm trees and murals helped to carry out the theme of the dance which will long be remembered, especially by the luniors who planned it. rf!! Scion! Pafufq Highlighting the Highline and Ftenton football game on Friday, October 6, the all school party was held in the gym. Dancing, games, and refreshments proved an enjoyable evening to all that attended. This event was new to the Renton students as it took the place of the annual mixer. However, it was along the same line of entertainment. Miss Swenson was advisor tor this event. . As the students' of Renton High entered the school on the night of October 31, they really got a great surprise pleasure, There were screams from gals and laughter of boys as they walked on paper and soda crackers. As the lights went low then off and the elevator took a few students for .a surprise ride up and then down with a bang, While the ghosts screamed and the drums beat on with a wild and loud taunting melody. Then later all the students left this chamber of horrors and went inside the gym to find more exciting activities. There was dancing, games, ping-pong, relays, and checkers. Later in the evening they had re- freshments and a new elimination dance. All this was a big success. lt was brought to us by Mr. Church and the plans were carried out by all the members of the Senior High Board of Control. The chaperones were a few members of the Renton High School faculty. 4 HJ Qi X Af ff -fwgfx, 1,55 -- OAWL 9? 0 ' 1-f, ,- 7 , nM 'f fe-1? 9 ' fn' Y' . 1, -Ai fgmfiy fi WW! f W if 54, 2 1 ' . f W f .ff W ,Z 'if Q . f ff' a, 1 ffm , W if ff ii- ' 5 f ,W J g, , 4 x?
