The team then celebrated their triumph along with the student body and Queen at a Victory Ball. The Homecoming game was dedicated to Mr. Ierry Strole, a former coach and loyal Bomber fan. ROW 2: Bill Braasch, Dave Rose, Chris Janssen, Coach Brandenburg, Ed Davisson, Don Marlatt, Danny Hammond. 25 Although scant and lacking depth, the Bombers put on a val- iant effort to bring their town and school another winning season. Even though there was a general feeling of apathy among the students, the team carried on the proud football tradition prevalent in Rensselaer for many years. The season's opening spirits were dampened by a loss to Twin Lakes. However, the Bombers bounced back and came home victorious against arch rivals Delphi and Benton Central. North Iudson with an all around strong athletic program this year downed our boys the following week. The South Newton game proved to be a thriller as Trooper Terry's men managed to tie the Rebels in the closing seconds. Victory Road was briefly interrupted by a loss to Central Catholic, but the Bombers quickly bounced back to defeat Knox for a happy Home- coming and crushed a weak North Newton. In their debut at Bomber Stadi- um, Culver's cadets and team conquered their opponents in battle.
