As 420 students enter into the realm of activity, they are introduced to education, books, teachers, classes, and the extra-curricular activities found within the walls of Rensselaer High School. From laughter and approval come lasting circles of friendships, new experiences, and an outlook on the future. Here, prospects of the future are backed by the building of our vast storehouse of knowledge, efforts secured only by our determination to tackle our lessons and assignments. This test of acquisi- tion may be both painful and rewarding, however, our tire ess efforts are repaid by the pleasure of planning and enjoying the seasonal sports and pro- grams. Whether participating on the teams, practicing for the perfection of a musical performance, planning club meetings and projects, or sponsoring occasional dances, we are constantly developing our interests and skills. As the awareness of high school life and a sense of belonging to it is broadened, our scope of comprehension of the present and of the future is a challenge to us,the students of R.l'l.S. Let us look further into this action picture by joining in a tour of our center of activity. TABLE OF CONTENTS People ACtlVltl6S Sports For each of us, there are those leisure moments for com- panionship and participation in extra-curricular activities and those thought-provoking lessons that train us to reason. These give us the o portunity to en- rich our mini, tordevelop a well-rounded personality, and to prepare ourselves for a con- structive life. Noon-hour activities are supported by numerous onlookers. Many students hurry to the cafeteria at noon. 5151 C Senronty rates senior cords. Varied emotions are shown by spectator at ga mes. Anticipation And Excitemen Band Leads Student Body in Homecoming Parade The Queen is Crowned! fl 114.1 When the big day came, the team, the band, con- vertibles bearing the queen and her attendants, and the student body partici- pated in an afternoon parade through the business district as a symbol of their enthusi- asm in backing the Bombers in the RHS-West Lafayette game. QR Surrounded by her attendants, senior Fran Kresler was crowned Queen of Homecoming, 1957 by the senior class president, John Layden. The band, under the direc- tion of Drum Major Carilyn Hadley, played a musical tribute to the queen by serenading her with Oh, You Beautiful Doll. In the fall of '57 our class thespians presented the play Magnificent Obsession. The plays tells of a noted brain surgeon who is devoted to humanity because of a unique vitalizing principle. He drowns because of a society playboy. This playboy seeks to take the surgeon's place and proves that his principle is the true way of life. A. girls supplied and decorated the tree in the foyer. This beautifully trimmed tree has be- come a highlight of our annual festivities. The decorations, the Christmas music played before classes, and the students' smiles and good cheer all helped to make the i957 Yuletide season a ioyous one. The foyer was attractively decorated for the Christmas season. Santa 's workshop for the Christmas program. quamarlne Fantasy lT'S PROM TIME! A moment of magic cap- tured the crowd at the sight of the decorations of A uamarine Fantasy. Countless couples danced to the music of Pat Doran's band, whether it was a waltz or the latest jitter- bug sensation . The sparkle of multi- colored dresses, the sleek lines of outh, and the varied blue shades ofthe decorations complimented by the flowing tones of the band combined to create a memorable evening.
