BOYS' STATE Re xresentinv Reno High at the 11 meeting of l rt :N 977 a Boys' State were Tom Sloan, Ron Gilford, Dan Sohrio, Forest Grieves, Iohn Regnell, Garth Sibhald. Don Shevlin, and Roger Ioseph. Boys' State was held Iune mth through 17th, and besides learning about our government. the boys made many new friends, put out a paper, set up a government. and helped build a hrmer foundation. GIRLS' STATE The 1955 session of Girls' State met in the Reno High School Gymnasium Iune I7 through the 24th. Linda Edwards, Linda Barton, Sherrill Evans, Barbara Humphrey, Charlotte Iones, Nancy Mans- tield, Linda Patterson, Barbara Ruark, Barbara Swart, Ann Warren, and Dawn Wells were among the 105 delegates to Girls' State. Paced hy Moon. who tanked zo points. the Huskies went ahead at the opening hasket and gradually pulled away after a close lirst period. Nloon was hot all evening but particularly in the first half when he hit for I4 points. Sloan chipped in with iz tallies against the Railroaders. Reno 63-Manogue 54-Once again it was slashing forward Ierrv Moon who led the Reno team to its win. Moon hit for I4 points and was closely followed by Black. who canned 12. Height and superior hackhoard control gave the Huskies a tremendous edge over the Manogue Miners. Klamath fought from behind. took the lead in the third quarter and held it the rest of the wav to win the season's opener. Reno's scoring duo, Moon and Sllbllll again led the parade with IQ and IFE, points respectively. Reno 62-Las Vegas 52-Rising to their greatest peak of the season, the Huskies swept past their southern rivals with a late rally. lerry Moon hit for 25, but the late scoring of Patil Campbell and Harry Wzilters was the key. Reno 49-Las Vegas oy-The VVildcats took an early lead and swamped the floor weary Huskies. Moon tallied 24, but got little support from the remainder of the team. Reno 55-Sparks o7-Reno lost the second meeting against Sparks o11 the Railroaders' home floor. The game was a roughhouse affair, which saw Sparks throw in ZQ gift tosses. The Huskies fell behind earlv and were never able to close the gap. 4 eno oi-Red Bluff 42-III the re-match with the 'partans. Reno romiped to a routine triumph for their tth straight conference win. Scoring was well divided vith the regulars playing about half the game. Reno 61-Chico 59-In one of the most thrilling games ever witnessed at the Reno High Gymnasium Ierrv Moon sank a jump shot with 17 seconds re- maining in a sudden death overtime period to give the Huskies their initial conference win of the season. Reno oo-Shasta 51--The Huskies gain- ed their second conference win of the season. as they passed Shasta with a tremendous second half rush. Forwards Ierry Moon and Tom Sloan made 21 and 17 to lead the scorers. Reno .47-'RCCl Bluff 35-Reno won their third consecutive conference game with Red Bluff in a slow moving game. After trailing for most of the first half. the Huskies took command to register the victory.
