G. A. A. Under the personal supervision of Miss Helene Stark, the Physical Education Instructor, girls' sports, carried on through the Girls Athletic Association, were one of the high-lights of the school year. Featuring such major sports as basket- ball, volleyball, softball, ring tennis, tennis, bowling, and such minor sports as badminton, table tennis, and tumbling, the G. A. A. participated in the games that were replaced by calisthenics. The purpose of this organization is to help girls become interested in athletics and to promote good sportsmanship and skill in different activities . . . The officers Were: President . . . . During the year the Hi-Y members collected and sorted metals for the milk fund. They donated money to the Re-Wa-Ne and sponsored the first dance of the year . . . EMBLEM CLUB The Emblem Club is composed of those students who are eligible to attend a state or a district music festival. The main purpose of this organization is to promote good-fellowship among the music groups. During the year, the club specialized in initiations and gave several successful dances. BAND, ORCHESTRA, AND GlLlElE CLUB The band, orchestra, and glee club's ranks were depleted this year by the conscription and enlistment of boys in the armed services. The boys' glee club has only two remaining members . . . Because of the war shortages, the band was able to make only two of its usual trips--one to the Reno Air Base and the other to the Sierra Ordnance Depot at Doyle. Both band and orchestra gave numerous concerts about Reno during the year . . . The music students adopted as their slogan for this year: Anything to help the war effort.

FIFA Reno Sage Chapter of the Future Farmers of America, aiming towards the development of agricultural leadership, cooperation, and citizenship, carried on a variety of activities this year. Included in their program were the harvesting of crops for local farmers, constructing farm appliances, collecting scrap metal and rubber. Individual programs based on a Food for Freedom theme were carried out. Many socials and meetings were held . . . Group leaders were: President .... Wayne Asher Treasurer . . . EVER SINCE lEVlE SENIOR PLAY or '43 Ever Since Eve, a three-act comedy, was presented in the gym on April 15 and 16, under the direction of Don Harvey Bell . . . The play involves a typical high school paper, The Penguin, which is at present in the hands of the men of Preston High. Then-comes a new woman journalism teacher who stirs up real complications by spiriting girls to work on the paper . . . The cast included: Mrs. Clover, lean Neff: Iohnny Clover, Ray McGuire: Mr. Clover, Marvin Mc- Querry: Susan Blake, Evelyn Payne: Spud Erwin, Mickey Munley: Betsy Erwin, Ieanne Adrian Sutton: Officer Simmons l Cappy l, Bryant Ferguson: Lucybelle Lee, PSCJQY Neal Ford: football players, Wayne Asher, Hadley Beedle, Bob Larsen, Bob Mason: and Preston Hughes, lack Dieringer . . . The stage crew were: Bob Mack, Geraldine Rahill, Blanche Capurro, Harriet Anderson, Patricia Ussery, Lawrence Means, Virginia Keen, Bill Atkinson, Iean Bicknell, Irene Bond, Bemadine Chapkiss, Norma Brinkley, and Lillian Ferraris . . . The bus- ness staff was composed of Mr. Alegre, Joe Haslett, and Wilburta Shidler.
